Boring. That team is better than people give them credit for personnel-wise. If anything they underachieved last season. I'm assuming he'll be fired sometime next year.

Serge Ibaka, James Harden, Nenad Krstic and Thabo Sefolosha are nice players, but not good enough to account for 27 more wins. The guy takes a team full of young players, and with a frontcourt of swingman Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic, leads them to a 50 win season.

I actually thought Skiles would win this though, but the NBA made the right pick here.

He took over last season after 12 games and went 22-47. If his coaching was the cause of their revival surely there would have been some evidence of it last season.

The more I think about it, I would have given it to McMillan. Considering the shit he had to deal with this season, pretty amazing they are in the play-offs and actually won a game.

Well, there's also development of players, the fact that two of their starters of this season were added in the latter third of last season, and how he used a short rotation all year instead of sprawling. (Five fewer players logged 250 minutes, and three fewer logged 500. Only nine topped 1000 (Maynor would have if he was acquired earlier) minutes.) Plus the imposition of a long-armed defense that was at the top three of the year until the last month despite only Sefolosha being an obviously good defender.

Agreed, though I was more confident of Scott getting the nod. There was more talk of the Thunder more than doubling last year's win total and finishing with 50 wins than anything Skiles or anyone else had achieved with their squad this year, so Brooks was the one getting the attention.

As I said in the other thread, I would have gone with Nate McMillan here.
