NLSC Rosters v1.04 (Feb 3rd, 2004) Released!

Postby Andrew on Wed Feb 04, 2004 6:25 pm

A new version (v1.04) of the current roster update for NBA Live 2004 has been released, and is available to download here.

New in v1.04:
- 2003/2004 Rosters, updated through February 3rd, 2004
- Player ratings and positions updated for better substitution patterns
- Player ratings updated for better simulated and in-game performance
- All teams' offensive plays updated to reflect the real NBA
- 2004 All-Star teams added
- John Carroll added as Boston Celtics' coach (generic cyberface)
- Lenny Wilkens added as New York Knicks' coach (real cyberface)
- Lawrence Frank added as New Jersey Nets' coach (generic cyberface)
- Rick Carlisle added as East All-Stars' coach
- Flip Saunders added as West All-Stars' coach
- Improved installation

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on v1.03. Feedback on the new version is most welcome, either via email or in the forums.

There should hopefully be fewer problems with the installation routine (thanks to Kq for his input) in this version. As usual, please base all feedback on the most up to date version. I'm always eager to improve the rosters any way I can, so if you spot an error or know of a way to make the patch better, by all means let me know. :)

Great job by everyone who put together the roster update, but the salary file is no good. I replaced the file directly to make sure I was getting the one included in the roster update, but the cap remains 45 million every single year, and free agents are NEVER signed by any other teams!

i have some questions for Andrew if he doesn't mind.
what does generic cyberface mean? and if you change a team's coach that doesn't have a audio file, what will they say during the starting lineups? will they just say the old coach's name?

That's odd. :? The cap should begin at $43.84mil, then increase by $2mil every year. I'm not sure what's gone wrong there. Anyone else notice the problem?

"Generic cyberface" refers to the additional cyberfaces EA included in the xcheads.viv file. Close up you'll see it's not who it's meant to be, but it means that Byron Scott for example will be replaced by a generic looking white coach representing Lawrence Frank.

If there's no audio file for a coach, the announcer will simply say "The Coach".

Nevermind, I do see a cap increase, but it is not enough! A change of 2 million doesn't change anything in the free agent signing, because when player becomes a free agent, you can almost guarentee they're going to retire a free agent. Its frustrating!

I haven't noticed that when I've tested the roster patch in Dynasty Mode. There is a problem in Dynasty Mode where players sometimes do not re-sign despite a team having cap space, but that's a problem the roster patch can't fix.

I'm not getting mad at your roster update, its a good one, but I really hope EA fixes this problem somehow by Live 2005. Its ridiculous and ruins the whole purpose of Dynasty mode...

Agreed. With or without real salaries, it's a problem when you're playing a Dynasty game.

Just a heads up on the Wizards for the next patch:

Juan Dixon is playing SG exclusively now, as Steve Blake is the back-up PG.

This is a stupid homer nag, and even though I fixed it in my game, well, there ya go

It's little things like player positions that make substitution patterns more realistic, so the correction is most welcome. (Y) Thanks. :)

Up until he was injured, Harpring was starting in the frontcourt with Kirilenko. Both are more suited to the small forward position, but I was unsure who was playing power forward most of the time.

Please calm down. I've already explained why I made Harpring a power forward, and if I've made an error there, it's an easy one to fix. The Jazz have not been able to place Harpring on the IR as they already have three players there. Harpring appears on the active roster, but does not see action due to his injury.
