(4) Celtics Vs. (5) Heat

Postby Lamrock on Thu Apr 15, 2010 12:01 pm

The Heat are minutes away from defeating the Nets (lol) en route to their second consecutive fifth seed. This time, they face off with the washed-up 2008 champions. While Miami got swept in the season series, they have played far better as of late. With Wade's whistles, I think this can go the distance.

I think Boston wins in 7.

Celtics will get killed in the second round. A bit worried though. Milwaukee has the Celtics beat, and the Nets are making a comeback in the decisive game against Miami. Hope my threads aren't undermined...

Who has the tiebreaker? Nets just tied it.

EDIT: Joel Anthony fouling Courtney Lee with four seconds to go. Shooting foul. Lee makes both to tie it again.

EDIT2: Bucks have tiebreaker, 3-1 against the Heat.

Yi fouling Beasley for no clear reason on the inbound. ARRYO OFFENSIVE FOUL. NETS GET ANOTHER CHANCE AT IT.

Chris Quinn, former Heat guard, misses last shot, overtime.

ANNNDD Beasley (23/15) fouls out on an offfensive foul.

Heat are trying to lose, hoping to draw. Fuckers. Want to undermine my polls and suffer us another shitty Hawks/Heat series.

They're just running back and forth throwing up random shots.

I was leaning towards Boston in six, but I too will go with Boston in seven. Miami is red hot at the moment (a double overtime game against the lowly nets with Wade and O'Neal sitting not withstanding) while the Celtics have been very ordinary. With home court advantage, I believe the Celtics have enough steam to get out of the first round and probably take a couple of games in the second round, but unless they flip the proverbial switch that'll be it for them.

I don't the Heats are a good enough of team to make it to a second round over the Celtics. Besides, the match up problem is inevitable. The Celtics are bigger and stronger in almost all position. I'd say the Celtics in 5 or 6.

By the way, good win against the Nets. Yi Jianlian had a good game, but with 0 assist. I always thought he could become a better player with bit moer passing skills. Whenever he drives in, you can tell that he'll just put it up there, and passiong isn't an option to him. It makes him too predictable as a weapon on offense. Career high 4 assists also says something.

Beantown are (reasonably) healthy, and have been kind of coasting of late. I think Boston shows their mettle in this first-round matchup, and takes it in 5. Then gets convincingly swept by Cleveland.

I haven't picked an upset yet so I'll go with one here: Miami in seven. I'm pretty sure I'm seeing the same "turn it on when it counts" mentality from Boston that we've seen from so many other championship level teams nearing the end. Despite this probably being their last hurrah all together, I don't think they can turn it on against a team like Miami-- one they should be able to handle.

Not that Miami is a good team, but they've been able to hang with Boston in all three of their regular season meetings, albeit losing all three. If they get some sort of secondary scoring from ANYONE ON THEIR TEAM, they can make this a very competitive series IMO.

Surprise player will be Michael Beasley... just kidding! I think Mario Chalmers, if he finds a way to get some consistent PT, could be a pest defensively on Rondo. I know his defense isn't always there, but if he finally realizes that someone as awful as Carlos Arroyo is starting ahead of him, he could maybe find some consistent effort on both sides of the ball in an effort to grab back the starting PG job for next season.

Sheed will be called out by Doc Rivers, the organization, and the fans to play with more intensity but instead Sheed will reply with "fuck Red Auerbach". Sheed gets suspended, remaining players are pissed off because of Sheed's remarks and win the series.

Either that or show signs of life now that the Playoffs are here. I'm sure Celtics fans would settle for either, and less tipping in opponent's misses.

Re-emergence of Jermain O'neal will be a factor. If he can play at high level, I think we do have a chance at this series.

At this point, the Heat consist of one alpha dog (Wade) and four other guys better suited for bench roles than starting spots.... if that fourth quarter is a sign of things to come for both teams the Heat are cooked.

Spectacular collapse by the Heat, day and night compared to the first half and early in the third quarter. I still reckon they'll win one or two at home though.

Q was pushing him in the back and probably saying something. KG was "woofing" so it might have been "shut the fuck up you lunatic."

Self Destruction mode came on for the Heat from the late 3rd quarter.

I thought Wade was also pretty bad tonight. He just disappeared when the team needed him the most. As a leader, he's the guy the other players expect to make key plays, but he showed nothing tonight. But mainly, we just made clumsy mistakes and failed to match Boston's late gearing up. Props to the Heat though, for getting my hopes up early. :shake:
