The semi-annual doobie update. (stress talk)

Tue Mar 16, 2010 2:05 am

Hey guys!! Miss you all!! Been pretty busy last few months but decided to swing by and check out the boards again. Anything new goin on?? I've had many events happen over the last few months, finally signed up for school, got a raise at work, broke up with the girlfriend, and lost 30 lbs and still going at it. Things have been great, everything I could ask for. I'm excited for the Knicks offseason despite not having a draft pick and most likely not getting LeBron or Wade. I actually have a question in general for you guys.

Simply, what is your method of stress relief? I used to be the kind of person that stressed everything, that if my friends don't call me to hang out I'd feel weird cause of it and stuff like that. Life has been great since I stopped stressing. I stopped stressing about my job and actually take it as an oppurtunity to socialize and now I just have a blast everyday at work. I just love life now. I quit smoking weed and drinking.. Well weed for life but drinking just till the summer (my 21st birthday is in April.)

I realized that basketball is my ultimate form of stress relief. My gym opened up last month and since I've been playing basketball I've been feeling great. Music helps me a great deal as well. What helps you guys get over stress?

Pretty much the same here.
Whenever I'm Stressed or Depressed i take my mp3 player and head to the courts.
Sometimes i go drink alcohol with my friends to take off the stress, though then i go crazy and start doing stupid shit.

Doobie, did you break up with the girlfriend you were talking about here in the forums?

Go kill yourself Doobie...

...oh wait, Doobie is happy now. (Y)

Stress reliever - music, gaming, drinking with friends, stalking Lean, but I just usually space out after thinking things through which somewhat 'blanks' my mind. What's the point of worrying if I know it's (possibly) going to happen anyway.
At this point in my life I also don't get what's the deal with weed anymore. Last time I tried it (about a month ago) I just went "that was it?" in my mind like it did nothing special. I did get the munchies though and I was powerless to stop it.

Mostly PC gaming, probably too much of it actually. That and music. And hookers.

I think lots of people get burnt out on the "lifestyle", especially when it doesn't really do anything but give you a stuffy head feeling after a while. Even after quitting for a year and taking a bowl at a new years party a few years back, I wasn't thinking "Now I remember why I loved this stuff."

Not giving a shit is my stress relief. Add some alcohol and smoke some cloves. They might be a combination of stress relievers and habits. I actually feel a relief in shopping sometimes, just getting something new like clothes or a new game. Being physically active is a great stress reliever, too. So if you can go to a gym or play a sport, do it. Sex is the best stress reliever.

Doobie, from your post your attitude's actually quite positive this time around and it's good to see you're making strides to change your lifestyle. Kudos for dumping the girl too.

As for stress relief, it's hitting the gym, social interaction with good friends, doing a hobby/passion, music, and sexual release.

That probably does not apply to everyone, but cooking is surprisingly efficient as a stress reliever.

Basketball. Play pickup to get your mind off things, shoot around for a few hours to get your mind on it.

I find its best not to sit on your ass and moan about it. At least take a walk. It will clear your head a little bit and help you feel better.
Anyway, sounds like you're doing well to me. (Y)
