Here I am again Coach Martin for a quick game review for week 1. In the past 4 days we played three games, one against New York and the other two are against Toronto and Philadelphia.

Toronto Raptors

Image

The game against the Raptors is only our second game, everybody was fired because of the previous win against the Nets. Thierry Tirieux came up shooting in the halfcourt during the pre-game shootout but this time he did not make any. But as the game start the smile from their faces disappeared. The Chris Bosh less Raptors were up entering halftime 52 - 44. Jarret Jack had 10 points and Hedo Turkoglu had 15 all in the first half. Once again I talked to the team, I lectured them, I yelled at them and some little inspirational speech.

Upon entering the 3rd quarter Will Sit talked to me to used Liam Washburn, I know those two had great teamwork so I put Washburn in the 3rd to start. Washburn was amazing he's just an all around scorer, Sit is feeding him the ball whenever he is open. He scored 14 points in the 3rd quarter and were back to the game. As the 4th quarter starts Thierry Tirieux joined forces with Sit to lead the team to victory. I'm begging to think that Thierry is one of our clutches player, he loves the 4th quarter he only played well in that quarter.

So the final score New Jersey 104 - Toronto 95. Will Sit finishes as the POTG.

---------------------------------------

Philadelphia 76ers

Coming from a win against Toronto we have our very first back to back game. I hope that the team can keep up with "Run N Gun" offense of the Sixers. But as the first quarter starts the team show signs of exhaustions and to make matter worse only my starting five can keep up with the Sixers. We are down 29 - 21 entering the second quarter. Luckily Martti Must have enough stamina to run with the Sixers, and with the second chance points we outscored the Sixers 32 - 20 in the second quarter grabbing the lead 53 - 49 heading to halftime. During halftime I look at the players, they were really exhausted so I did not gave them a hard time and let them rest, eventually that cause us the game.

While we are relaxing in the halftime coach Eddie Jordan planned something for our team. Their plan in the second half is to keep on running, our team is very tired to keep up with them so the result is a collapsed in the second half. Elton Brand dominated the game and Louis Williams got on fire in the second half, there is nothing we can do to stop them, Kenny Young tried to rally us but it the gap is too big. The Sixers scored 60 in the second half while we only scored 28. The final score Philadelphia 109 - New Jersey 81. Andre Iguodala was the POTG.

---------------------------------------

So there it is, we our now 2 - 1 guys and we haven't face the strong teams yet. Please do not worry I'm sure we'll be back to the winning ways. One quick note though, Cliff Bernard come to me and said to give him more minutes, sadly he did not take the advantage of him playing more time and so is Drake Thompson. I hope those two bounce back or else their starting spot will be given to someone else. - Coach Martin

Wow those are awful shooting numbers. I was about to swat Brands shot though and I did a good job on Dalembert(8 points!) But don't worry I'll bounce back coach! My near double double was a sign of improvement :)

Week 2 of our season and we faced three teams, Atlanta, Washington and Boston. So here is what happened during this week.

The first match this week is against the Atlanta Hawks, the Hawks have not one their first game this season and we our not giving them their first win. We took control of the first quarter but the Hawks came back in the second to close the gap and they bring their momentum in the third, they lead going to the fourth 71 -75. It came down to the final seconds in the fourth quarter, we are up by 3 with 35 seconds left Hawks ball. Then Marvin Williams drives strong to the basket and Kenny Young gets knocked out, there is a whistle a foul on Young that's his 6th. I tried to protest that it was an offensive foul (here take a look) but the officials didn't listen, Williams knocks 2 freethrows. With 17 seconds left Cliff Bernard forces a dunk but he get's blocked by Al Horford (see this). 10 seconds left we are still up by 1, Mike Bibby goes through the screen but Will Sit grabbed his jersey and that make's Bibby loose his balance and so is the ball. We won the game 100 - 99.

Martti Must prove that he should start as he was later the POTG. Lev Brezhnev also had a decent game.

The second match is against the Washington Wizards, another team that is still winless. I'm very confident that we would win this one unfortunately Mike Miller did not make it easy for us. He was torturing us in the first half, scoring 25 points. Thierry Tirieux could do nothing to stop him. It was the same pace in the second half, Miller is the only one that kept his team to the game. Even though Lev Brezhnev is dominating Andre Blatche the score is still close. In the fourth quarter Thierry got his 4th foul with 8 minutes left then I look at Mark Moore. He was still fresh so I subbed in him and tell him to mark Miller. Eventually that move gave us the key to victory as we hold the Wizards to only 12 points in the final quarter.

We won the game 98 - 84. Will Sit achieved another double-double. Kenny Young lead us with his 20 points.

The final match of this week is against the Boston Celtics, they were struggling as they will face us looking to stop their 2 game loosing streak. I decided to start Mark Moore over Thierry Tirieux this time for him to defend against Ray Allen. Allen prove to be too much for Moore, Mark was on the bench early because of foul trouble. Without Kevin Garnett, Martti Must and Lev Brezhnev dominated inside (see). Kenny Young struggled to score against Paul Pierce but it's okay. The key here is that all of the Celtics players struggled to scored. Drake Thompson made a nice dunk then Rasheed Wallace confronted him, in the next possession Drake tried another dunk but he was fouled by Sheed and he got injured. Surprisingly this was an easy victory for us.

The Celtics fell to their 3 game loosing streak while are winning streak has reached 3. The final score is 103 - 88. Will Sit lead us with 23 points and 9 assists while Liam Washburn added 10 off the bench.

------------------------------

So there it is Nets fans, we have achieved our first undefeated week hopefully this last long. Just continue to support us and we will play our hearts out in every games. - Coach Martin.

Nice recap... I might have struggled to score against Paul Pierce, but I'd take a stat line of 12 points 7 rebounds and 6 blocks any day of the week :)
