PS3 TXT_PS3TROPHY_ERROR Being Addressed

Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:16 pm

A lot of PS3 users are getting the following error: TXT_PS3TROPHY_ERROR I have sent a email to EA to try and find what the issue is but I thought i'd warn those it is being addressed.

it's not EA's fault, it's Sony's.

Love how it affects online and offline gaming.

Seems it's a problem with the clock functionality.

Sony wrote:As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

Errors include:
* The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
* When the user tries to sign-in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)".
* When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; "Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game."
* When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; "The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)"
* Users are not able to playback certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

As mentioned above, Please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused

That sucks, hope they get it fixed up soon. Still, I have to admit it's nice to know that we Xbox 360 users aren't the only ones who've had to suffer hardware issues and the like. And as always, I have to note that my NES, SNES and N64 are all still working. ;)

Word has it that PS3s are working again, either because the date's rolled over or a fix is out. Either way, looks like everyone can fire up their pre-slim PS3s again.

Mine is working again, and thankfully I didn't delete anything to try and fix it. :)

I still can't get online to download my dynamic dna updates? WTF? The same error 8001050F shows up when I turn on my ps3

Is your console displaying the correct date? It seems the problem came from an issue with the clock.

Yes, it says March 8, 2010 6:00 PM, same time and date in Houston.
