dynasty points

Fri Jan 30, 2004 5:08 am

i spend my dynasty points upgrading my players i.e. darko, bosh, anthony...all went up, like rafer alston from 56 to 65 at end of the season, but at the start of the next season, he was back down to 58 as was bosh...from 65 to 62 while darko was rated at 70...why did the players i played more go down while otherws went way up?

Playing time has nothing to do with player development. Player development is controlled by a player's CAREERPKG, which is a hidden value.

When you purchase Dynasty Extras, you are only boosting your player's ratings for a certain duration of time; a game, 5 games, 10 games or the rest of the season. Permanent development and decline takes place at the end of each season. What you experienced was the expiration of the Dynasty Extras you purchased, following by the annual increase/decrease in ratings.

i know that. what i meant was that i used my dynasty points of training sessions. for example, throughout the season, after many, many training sessions, rafer alston went from a 58 to 65, but at the end of my first year, he went down to 56. chris bosh went up to 67, but at the end of the first year, he was down to 62. yao mind went up to 81, but at the end of the year, he was rated 84. that's what i don't understand. why did some players go down, or in skip's case, wayyyy down

Andrew already said why man, in players database theres a row that indicate if the player will improve or not, or even decrease his skills over your dinasty seasons.. some players has hight percentage of improving over the seasons, others not...
i will give u an easy and clear example:
Chris Webber is an star player and excellent Power Foward, one of NBA´s best PF... hes 30 years old now, do u think that when he get 37-8 years old he will still running all around the court, dunking and launghning at his guard?
take a break and a time to analisys some good players who has already decreased their gameplay in real life and u will understand why ur players are decreasing in ur Dinasty game...
and all of us know that the major indicator to know if a player will decrease is his age.. humm thats all

ps.: take a look on how LeBron, Nenê, Yao Ming and some other good rookie/young players improved in ur dinasty game...

Dynasty Extras also expire at the end of the season, meaning once the season is over, they are subject to the improvement or decline governed by their PLAYERPKG. That's why you noticed such significant changes in the offseason after building your players up during the season.

that sux...that's something that should be corrected...i mean if u train during a season, at the end of the season, you lose everything u learned? that's retarded

Mon Feb 02, 2004 1:48 am

it depends man, u have to be intelligent as a manager, u probably spend all ur points training veteran guys (who will CERTAINLY DECREASE over the seasons cuz of theyr CAREERPKG, in other words, they will get older and older), the only way u could fix that is train ur rookies and young players so they will increase over the seasons and get better than veterans u have... one last tip(must be pointless cuz u must already knows that): in rookie draft, try to draft a rookie who has an "excellent" or "good" when u scout him... that indicates he will proly increase his skills over time

Mon Feb 02, 2004 1:49 am

the other way is to change players CAREERPKG filed in players.dbf  but thats sucks cuz its someway cheating :P

Mon Feb 02, 2004 2:54 pm

Yeah i wouldnt call it cheating as long as you control yourself :D , because some of the packages are screwed up.

i'm in the playoffs of my first year in my t'wolves dynasty...i use the team training session...vet's like garnett rarely get any increase through training, but chris bosh did, so i was expecting his increase to remain at the end of the playoffs, but he went done. so did my created player. he started at 70 at the beginning of the season...when the playoffs started, he was rated 79....just for fun i simmed to the end of the playoffs....in the offseason, he was down to 72, even though i spend all those points training him....oh well, signed some good free agents, traded them to the teams who had the 1, 2 and 3 picks in the draft...all players rated 75 or above...it just seems a waste of dynasty points to train if u lose the effects of training sessions in the offseason. :x

I think the extras are just meant as a temporary boost to help you out if you're struggling to win with the players you have. I agree that the effects of the training sessions should not be undone at the end of the season. I also feel that players shouldn't decline at all in training sessions, and I know a lot of other people feel the same way.

Tue Feb 03, 2004 3:59 pm

yeah, i agree too. i only train offense and defense because u can get increases in ratings for up to 11 players, y best training session, while with shoting and conditioning, you are lucky to get increases in 2-3 players. it's dumb that the effects of training sessions don't carry over after the end of the season...it's like saying that at the end of the season, my players forget everything they learned over the season on playing offense and defence...the worst thing is the loss of improvement in defensive ability...during the season Nikoloz Tskitishvili's defensive ability went from a 36 to 43, yet in the offseason, it went down to 37....that sux cause i want tall, versitile, defensive players, but now that he's gone back down, i'm thinking of trading him cause he won't improve much being a 3rd yr player....I have Yao Ming, Maciej Lampe, Chris Bosh, Kevin Garnett, Darko Mililic, Tskitishvili all of whom are 6'10 or taller and can play any of the frontcourt positions, although sometimes i go with Garnett (6'11) at the 1 Bosh (6'11) at 2, Mililic (7'0) at 3, Lampe (7'0) at 4, Yao (7'5) at 5 just for fun
