Things you wish were on DVD but for some reason arent

Postby Oznogrd on Tue Jan 26, 2010 3:29 pm

TV shows, movies...amazingly enough theres still ton of classics either only partially released or not released at all: list for now (off the top of my head):
SNL seasons for the 80s to mid 90s-I love me some mike myers, chris farley, dana carvey, norm mcdonald etc. These need to be on dvd. period.
Daria-I liked this show more than beavis and butthead...needs to be on dvd for each season.
ALL of MST3k-Tons of them are out, but several arent allowed to be release due to legal battles.
Adam West batman series-The sheer epic badness has never been topped.

Sorta relevant, but I wish there were Spielberg films on BluRay. I'm especially waiting for Saving Private Ryan. LOTR also comes to mind, but that should be out later this year.

As for DVDs, I can't think of anything right now, but I really can't buy DVDs anymore now there's BluRay.

saving ryans private is available for pre-order. the LOTR blu ray will only be the theatrical version. lol what a scam that studio is running. just release the damn director's cuts already. i'm not buying both

you must be a rich guy....

i thought about that too as i'm becoming somewhat of an audio/video High Def snob. but for me- it's too expensive. i've had my blu ray player for almost 2 yrs now and my blu ray collection stands at only around 10:
Apocolypto
300
2001: A space Odyssey
Gladiator
Braveheart
Dark Knight
Batman Begins
Terminator: Salvation
Casino Royale
Sunshine
Inglorious Basterds

Donnie Darko, I am Legend, Silence of the Lambs are part of the collection but i got those when i saw they were $10 on amazon during the holidays

there are a lot movies from my DVD collection i'd love to upgrade to blu-ray but that will cost an arm and leg. since the upconversion on blu ray players is pretty solid anyway i could wait on giving up limbs

Blu ray is awesome but aside from the action genre and disney Pixar releases, most movies aren't worth owning in blu ray format.

I'm hoping they'll eventually release further seasons of The Drew Carey Show and Whose Line Is It Anyway? on DVD sometime down the road. I realise I'm probably in the minority there.

Drew carey was a great sitcom till towards the end. Craig Ferguson, Ryan Stiles, and Diedrich Bader were all hysterical. The only thing I remember being weird about it was Drew was almost always the straight man to the absurdity of the other characters which made him not seem like the basis of the comedy. Havent watched it in years though.

I agree completely, it didn't hold up too well after Christa Miller left for her recurring role on Scrubs.

W00t at the pre-release, thanks! As for LOTR, that's bullshit. I'll wait till they release the director's cut.

Naw, I just manage money well. Besides, I only have like 20 Bluray titles right now, and prices aren't too bad (Got American Psycho for $10 Cdn).

I'm part of that minority, Andrew. I still catch up both shows on TV here and I have three seasons of Whose Line here in my hard drive. :applaud:

They're a good team. Scenes from a Hat is still my favourite game though.

what's your blu list & how long have you had a blu ray player? new releases are ~$26. that's pretty steep. Blu ray season sets for TV shows.. pretty ridiculous. i won't even mention.

but yes- $10 is awesome but you won't find that price for anything recent

I avoid new releases until they drop to $20 or less. I had my Bluray player for only 8 months now. Other than movies, Planet Earth and Band of Brothers are the only sets that I got when they were on sale on Amazon.
