For anyone that has the PC game
1 Can you please go into practice mode and take a guy with a 3pt rating of 70 or so and start off in sim mode.
2 Take 25 3s right at top and middle of the arc with you feet set, record how many went in.
3 Do same with setting on arcade, record how many went in.
4 Repeat above two or three more times for consistant results.
5 Post your results here
If someone does this we could see if the modes are mixed up and which is really the sim mode.
A huge thanks to anyone that helps.

Well i'm going to bed but I hope someone with the PC version cand do the tests above and we can tell if the modes are mixed up.
Wed Nov 13, 2002 7:44 pm
Why bother? Just ask somebody if they can see which is more arcade-ie...

Looks like it's really mixed up. In sim mode games a blocked shot (almost) always goes into the stands. In arcade mode it doesn't.

modes are definitely flipped
i find it much more realistic on simulation with everything on (rules and such) still unrealistic in a way, but better

Don't you mean "arcade"?

not only is it sad that the modes are mixed up, but it's very sad that we can barely tell

modes aren't messed up. The play is exactly the same. You could just say that arcade mode is arcade, and sim mode is really just arcade2.

Guys this would take a few minutes so could someone just please do it. I just want some statistical evidence to see if the modes are different or if it reall doesn't matter.

IF I had the game, I would do this test. It seems like a real important thing to figure out, which I hope they fix with a patch or something, or tell us by releasing some news. God damn Best Buy and CompUSA.

Hey guys first time here.....
I did try to do this...... The problem is that I dont think you can choose what mode you are in when you practice. I looked at every menu possible but it's not there, no option.
I think they intended practice mode more for moves and the such...
Oh well...
For what its worth I adjusted my Players.dbf file by lowering FG%, 3pt%, Block, Speed, and Quick and when I play on Arcade mode it did give me better results Here is a stats sheet from the first half on Arcade. I was Minn. There is still to much blocking going on, but I think with a more tweaked dbf file that might get better. This was on AllStar 8 min qts.
I will post two more times one full game in Arcade same settings as above and one in Simulation.
Hope that helps.

I just played a game on simulation then arcade with rules on. They are DEFINATLY backward as I get a better (slower) tempo in arcade mode with rules on. Without a doubt! In sim I noticed on the break that the CPU players seem to be running with turbo on, they are unstoppable. On arcade, they are much slower and don't break as much either. Also one thing I noticed is when I am backing a defender down and draw the double team, on sim when I kicked it out to the open man on the permimeter, his guy (somehow) would get out to challenge his shot! On arcade he is not near as quick and I can get a 3 ball off without much of a problem. It is easier but MUCH more realistic.

Does it surprise you when it comes from a company who has been making large budget basketball games for nearly seven years and are still miles away from getting it right.

Will there be a patch ? Maybe they can fix it there!

The reason ppl think that arcade and sim are switched is because when the game is on SIM.. the default setting is FATIGUE OFF. And when they switch to Arcade and turn all the rules on they put FATIGUE ON and think that they are switched.
Get me?

At first I thought there was a difference, but there really isn't. After you get use to the tempo of the game they seem identical. Arcade mode just doesn't have the 20 foot dunks.

I have a couple questions...
First I have been trying to find a site that shows stats like League Averages for PPG, RPG, SPG, APG...you get the point..
I found a site that showed team by team stats for last year...I did not see a team that had a FG% greater that .465 or so...and the Opponents FG% was usually in the same range.
Now, the game that was posted in this topic shows both teams have a .500+ FG%. Obvioulsy he is getting his roster closer to the real stats...but still needs some work.
My final question is...why do you always have to adjust the quarter length...originally that option was for people who wanted a quick game...not to make the stats real. How poorly would one have to shoot to play a full 12 min quarter...and not have a score of 200+ games.
In a 6 minute game...on Superstar, I can score 100 points with Toronto...a team the game ranks as 13th...doesn't that seem odd...

I'm really lost. I have the game now, and they are definitley switched, but they really don't seem too different. "Arcade" which is really Sim doesn't have the huge huge blocks, and the other stuff that "Simulation" has which ofcourse is really Arcade. Way too confusing. I think the Rosters need major tweaking, and I'm no good at that, so we need a Serious Roster Expert, that can tweak the ratings and give us a great game to play in the so-called Arcade that is really Sim mode.

You are on crack
