this is one of the features that its the easiest to implant and very easy to use and will improve the game SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there was an old game for the super nintendo system called "nba give n' go" , I played it back then and I played it today a couple of hours and noticed that when you go to the basket and someone tries to contest your shot or block it you can press while in the air the shoot button again and the player goes up and under the other player and tries to do a nice circus shot with the glass
the game itself is realy ugly because its from 1994 I think but I played it for like an hour just to look at all those up and under's ... they were so sweet... imagine what will happen if it was in nba live
I also think this feature wont be so hard to implant, you just make that when you press the shot button one more time while in the air going for a layup or something it makes an up and under move.
also talking about it, where have all the regular layups disappeared???
all I see is those very wierd little finger rolls and stuff, why cant they put some regular layups to make it more realistic.

I think that would be a much better way of implementing the Up and Under (press shoot twice) rather than making it random (remember NBA Live 2000? Switching hands for no reason in the open floor?) or having to perform a combination (like in NBA Live 2001).

Yeah, I agree that hitting shoot while in the air would be a good way of executing an up and under move.

Exactly, which is why I agreed we need more control over it. Back in Live 2000, it was randomly executed, often when it was completely unnecessary.

I had all nba lives except for live 2000 so I dont know
if u have the time I can send you that snes emulator and the "nba give n' go" game rom with it so u can check it out.

Nah, it's cool, but thanks anyway. What do you think of the idea of making the up and under being executed by the Freestyle control (or is it possible? I haven't explored all the Freestyle moves yet )

u mean while in mid air you press some kind of a jap step+ one of the arrows to perform the up and under... sounds ok but if ea can make it a double shoot button it will be even better since the freestyle control is realy a bitch (excuse me for swearing but I couldent find a better word) in the pc.
so maybe they can even implant it in their next patch... just add an extra shoot button pressing making a player up and under to score...
of course I'm not a programmer neither a graphic expert or smth but it seems pretty easy to implant.... I mean compared to like revamping all the rebound system or injury system.

Yeah, simplest solution would probably be best. I don't think it will be added by any official patches, but who knows what will make its way into future versions of Live.

Ehehe....i just readed lot posts in Wishlist and i thinked about that, what would i do if NBA Live 2004 would be allmost same but only with more graphics and 3pt contest = i would play it anyway ...im just so big fan of this game and if there is anything new then ill play it another year like usually.

This would work really well with a Layup rating.

I'm a little tired of being able to go to the basket and hit ridiculous layups with basically any point guard regardless of who's under the basket. John Stockton trying to go to the rack with anyone remotely near him should get his shot absolutely murdered...

Hi ya boys... I've done some programming in my life and I can tell you that the up and under is sweet on paper but pretty darn sour to implement. First of all you would have to do multiple more moves during the air flight so it wouldn't look incredibly stupid. Second of all the double-shooting is not a good way to implement it due to the fact that when you go up the shot gets released when you release the shooting button. During lay-ups it'd be fine, but still there is always the third problem. The fact that the move should be logical and would look good, well it would need a lot of code get the right move out of the system.

Yes I agree with you on this one. There should be another option for a shot when you are in the air. Right now you can only pass the ball if it seems that you'd be blocked. Maybe pressing another button while in the air of any shot could alter the shot... Like Direct Shoot etc. Though there was no direct shot in live 2003... Another bad move. You should be able to try a dunk to draw a fould if you wish.

I'm just saying that it is not so easy to implement, although EA loves doing the graphics over and over...

Man, there are 2 plays u call "Up N' Under".

first the one u mentioned...and it could be cool i must say.

and the other is when ur in the post, u turn to the middle bounce the ball 1 time , fake ur shot and when the player goes up, u go under him for a easy basket - i think this feature will be even better!

It's in nba 2k3 and looks fine so i don't see why ea couldn't use it in live.
