Well, this would be my 1999th post here and I figured that's close enough to my 2k mark to make a thread.
My NBA Live history:
I played Live before it was Live on genesis. NBA SHOWDOWN '94 i think. But in college i hadnt played a basketball video game unless i was at a buddy's place in years. I went to my cousins house and we played live 04 for so long my aunt bought me a copy to take back to school with me. From then on I was rehooked on basketball games. With the dynasty modes and truly customizable rosters, I loved every second. I bought each year's edition for PC up to '08. Living the good (the first time the dunk contest was put in), and the bad (i dont remember what year it was but the year fatigue was broken and EA didnt release a patch for about a month, even then it was half broken). Nowadays i have a 360 and have access to almost any released game, but 2k9 is the one i currently own and play (more of a boycott of EA not releasing PC versions anymore than any true difference in the games for me.)
My NLSC history:
While playing '05, I realized that EA was useless as far as updating rosters goes because they wanted me to buy next year's version. As i looked on google, the NLSC popped up and a plethora of patches was made available. Updated jerseys, gear, tattoos, hell even a mod to make the entire game an NBA Street game, not to mention rosters that included all the illini I had just had classes with the previous year that they had made the finals in the NCAA tourney. I lurked for awhile, downloading rosters and patches here and there until I saw the average intelligence of 90% of NLSC posters was equal to that of a 12 year old with severe comprehension issues. I started posting to help and try not to be an asshole. Answering simple questions, leading people to other threads where the question was already resolved, and the like. Then i scrolled down the page and found general talk. Long after i stopped giving a shit about NBA video games, I'm still here talking to a group of guys who crack me up pretty regularly. As I said in the Why do you post here thread: i dont have alot of friends in real life into basketball. Alot of them also dont enjoy some of the cult stuff i follow. Here: i could talk about that stuff and find new things to geek out over. This is also one of the few sports forums that while we have our fanboys: there are enough logical sane people here to have true discussion and not just get themselves off while thinking of kobe bryant dunks. Ive taken a few hiatuses in my time but mostly thats been due to some difficult real life things (psycho friends/dead relatives) or just situations (work) where browsing the NLSC wouldnt've exactly been encouraged (barely had time to check my email this summer). But i always find myself coming back. Thanks for the entertainment and the discussion guys. This is the only forum I've ever gone to regularly and not gotten bored.
Shoutouts (If i forget people I apologize in advance and if you're not mentioned, i may just not have a specific message for you)
-Andrew, Jae, Jao-You guys rock as admins. Never have i once felt ignored or like my voice wasnt being heard in how this place runs. All very different styles in handling the stupidity yet all great at what ya do. You guys keep this place running and i'll keep posting.
-Benji-we've disagreed on alot of shit, but my discussions with you are half the reason ive gotten this many posts.
