New Year's Eve 2009

Postby Andrew on Wed Dec 30, 2009 7:45 pm

So, Christmas has come and gone and we're on the verge of a new year, indeed a new decade. Anyone got anything special planned?

A couple of my friends are having a small gathering at their place in town so that's where I'll be spending the evening/night, likely finishing off the case of Crown Lager I bought just before Christmas while ringing in 2010 with some of my closest friends. Depending on the weather, we'll probably head down to the foreshore towards midnight to watch the fireworks before heading back to the flat for some more beverages and Wii.

You a fan of Crownies? I've never been a huge fan myself. I'm guessing it's either a beer that you like or don't like.

As for me, my sister & her husband are having a BBQ NYE thing so my wife & I are going to that. I'll probably just drink a half dozen RTD's (maybe McKenna's or something). If my pregnant wife isn't up to it then we might not even make it to midnight. Such is life for the family man

Me, my dad and a couple of my friends are going in town tonight to relax at a beer garden. We'll probably stay there until midnight and come back home to chill some more. Should be quality time.

Yeah I like them but only for special occasions. I've really cut back on the grog in general but if I do have a cold one (or two or three) I'll usually go cheaper. They always seem to have a special on cases of Crownies around Christmas time so that's when I go to the top shelf. ;)

Have you mentioned that before (the pregnancy, I knew you were married)? If so, I can't remember whether I saw it and offered my congratulations already but just in case you didn't/I didn't, congrats! :)

I tend to just go the Tooheys Extra Dry for normal beer drinking & maybe a Euro beer if I feel like something different. Then again, I don't drink much beer at all, usually only at the pub or if somebody offers me one.

As for the news, yeah, I didn't make an announcement or anything (outside of on Facebook), but have just randomly slipped it randomly into conversation here & there but nobody had noticed  . But yep, thanks, good times indeed. My sister even brought back a little Steve Nash jersey from the States earlier this month for the baby (boy or girl doesn't matter, everybody likes a good pass-first PG :P ). Baby is due mid-May, so yep, still some free time left for the moment  I'm guessing New Year's Eve for me in the foreseeable future will be me having a few quiet ones at home. All good though.

In the meantime, I plan to enjoy tomorrow night :chug:

Extra Dry's a good drop. It's the Platinums you have to watch out for!

Good plan. (Y) And hey, you're going to be tied up for the NBA Finals but at least with a due date in May, you're right for March Madness. ;)

As I said to my wife, I'm happy to get up for baby during night in June (World Cup 2010) & she can do every month after

Yep, Platinums can be lethal :P

The X, I am over Tooheys and also our pints of rum and coke on the tap. :P I am craving Coopers Pale Ale tomorrow night at the PignWhistle. :) And Andrew, Crown Lager is a good beer too. (Y)

As for me, I will be hitting the town! Woo! And then join a few parties around the area that I was invited to.

Shit X, didn't know about your wife's pregnancy. Congratulations! Does the baby look like Cell Jr?

A bunch of us rented a beach house a couple of hours outside of Melbourne, leaving tomorrow afternoon. I've got a bottle of tequila, bottle of vodka, bottle of gin and a carton of Carlton Draught so I'll be good for the 4 days we are there.

Ah, excellent. Well-planned. ;) And Platinums are responsible for what is probably my most drunken night out.

Sounds good, have a great time. (Y) For some reason, that rundown of supplies reminds me of the "We had two bags of grass..." run in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Not anymore, that was at the 12/13 week mark. More normal now.

I'm also a bit of the Bundy Draught pints. Don't know about Coopers Pale Ale. That shit is all my work seems to have in the beer fridge. One was enough. Sit, you probably like Stella as well since you like Crownies. I don't like Stella's, prefer Hoegaarden's

Stella Artois is my favourite beer. You know me too well.

I went to Belgian Beer Cafe the other night and this girl I met once remembers me and turns out is a friend of a friend. So I will be hitting that place up on Friday arvos more often since she is hot, I mean cause the beer is good... plus she's fine.

I wanna find a bar somewhere in the city and just chill. Then as the night progresses/when it's time to countdown just celebrate with random people I don't know and then just drink away my problems. Meh. If not, spend home and either countdown myself or just sleep like any normal day.

Couldn't justify the price of alcohol over here (thanks you dickhead Kevin Rudd & my half-Scottish blood), so just going to take the half bottle of Scotch I have in the cupboard & roll with that.

Have a happy new years everyone.
