I'll let you away with it as I don't recall Rockets having that deep a frontcourt in Live '95 (with rosters of only 12, it shouldn't come as a surprise)....Olajuwon, Thorpe, Horry were starters....I'm pretty sure you had a shooter like Bullard as backup SF/PF, but can't remember anybody else apart from Herrera as a backup PF/C....

I'm pretty sure rest of team had Vernon Maxwell, Kenny Smith, Sam Cassell, Scott Brooks (3rd string PG)....can't remember the other 3 players though unfortunately....I don't want to use Basketball Reference to cheat either :P

NBA Live 95 PC actually had Herrera as the starting power forward by default as the Drexler/Thorpe deal was included, though oddly Drexler is the sixth man by default even though he only came off the bench for one game in 94/95. Their default lineup in 95 PC was as follows:

C: Hakeem Olajuwon
F: Carl Herrera
F: Robert Horry
G: Vernon Maxwell
G: Kenny Smith

6: Clyde Drexler
7: Sam Cassell
8: Mario Elie
9: Pete Chilcutt
10: Tim Breaux
11: Tracy Murray
12: Zan Tabak

Not a lot of options at power forward after moving Horry over and Drexler and Elie into the starting five. ;)

I've been here for one year, and I look to be here for a long, long time.

Thanks Modifly, that's very kind of you to say. I don't know if I'm that beloved but I certainly hope most people have a positive impression of me and are at least more or less satisfied with the job I do. There have been times in the past where I know my image has not been so positive and as I said before I'll freely admit to being largely responsible for that having not handled certain situations as well as I would have liked and projecting an undesirable image in my decision making and whatnot. I think part of it was due to my age, I was a couple of months off 17 when I took over here at the NLSC and while I'd like to think I had a fair amount of maturity for my age, I certainly still had some growing up to do especially when it came to handling conflict and confrontations. I'd like to think as I've gotten a bit older, I'm better at taking a couple of deep breaths and acting less impulsively, catching myself out before a knee-jerk reaction escalates a situation instead of properly handling it.

Most of the members here have a very positive impression of you, no doubt about that. ;) We're more than satisfied with the job you did, you did more than enough. Cant argue with the fact that we, human, tends to handle situations less effectively and responsibly when we're less mature since it's the human nature, but you certainly proved that you can handle situations well and guide it to a brighter side nowadays. It's definitely about being able to step back, collect yourself and deal with a situation as calmly as possible rather than letting frustration or hurt pride/feelings rule your decisions, though sometimes it's easier said than done. The nature of the Internet also means that tone isn't always easily identified so you end up responding to something because you interpreted it a different way than it was intended. I think spending some time working in help desk has helped me to a certain extent as you get plenty of experience in customer service and have to keep your cool, else you might not keep your job.

I had it on Sega Mega Drive, so Thorpe was still starting PF....Zan Tabak was on team, as was Pete Chilcutt, who I tended to give more minutes to than he probably deserved

I'm pretty sure Elie wasn't on team at roster cutoff point, neither was rookie Tim Breaux....not sure on Tracy Murray, although I think he wasn't, so I'm 50/50 on him....

so that leaves one final person....I had to disappointingly go to Basketball Reference to work it out, but it was SF Chris Jent....

I'm guessing the PC version must've been released a couple of months after Genesis/Super NES versions....

It was, it had up to date 94/95 rosters while the original release had final 93/94 rosters.

I looked up this thread as I've been wondering what to do when I hit 50,000 posts (once again I'd like to do something fun and unique rather than a simple shoutout thread) and I wanted to see what stories I'd told when I did this; looks like I'll have to come up with something else. I did notice that I've made over 10,000 posts in the space of a year though, so I guess we can pencil in the Kareem's minutes milestone post for December 2010.

Only 1198 posts to go, Andrew. ;)

Maybe you can do something like the NLSC fun facts. Anyway, whatever you write up for 50k, I'm looking forward to it. ;)

Interesting read even after a year.
The X-Rated NLSC

Every so often, I receive a complaint about certain content on the website, be it an ad that shows a quick glimpse of a girl in a bikini or swearing in the Forum. Usually I can reach an understanding with the people who make their complaints by simply explaining our position on profanity, our lack of control over specific ads etc and all is well. Some, however, cannot be appeased.

After encountering some of the NLSC's 'very religious' members I wouldn't be surprised that some people can be easily offended by ads in the forum that barely have the semblance of porn.

A Tale of Revenge...sort of...

anyone who's been involved in the patchmaking community here can attest to the kind of vigilante justice that goes on and sense of right and wrong that we have.

Image Everyone in the forums want to be Batman. Image

We've had a few teething problems as we've put some security measures in place and tweaked some settings and run into some issues with one of the ad units which was beyond our control but we should hopefully be past all that now.

A year later...

This still creeps me out: (serious cat pic)

And it finally becomes an emoticon here. :seriouscat:

We've yet to pull any April Fool's pranks with the site but some ideas that have been thrown around include adding "Kobe" to the currently unused word censor list (back when it seemed every thread in NBA Talk somehow turned into a thread about Kobe), a bright pink design and wittily renamed forum sections. Jae and I also toyed around with changing the section names for International Talk Like a Pirate Day a couple of years back.

Somehow I am liking the april fools pranks. Or you could do that to tell everyone hey Andrew already got 50,000 post or something like that

That's the thing, I've pretty much used up all that stuff for previous milestone threads. I'm sure I'll come up with something that will amuse us briefly though.

No question. I remember we had a member several years back, possibly way back on the black and blue boards that complained about all the pornography in ads that included "men and women dancing around in their underwear". Of course, the guy also said the Bali Bombings were a sign that the Australian tourists had upset God and brought it upon themselves.

I know. It's currently being looked at though and that particular banner is not currently in the rotation. We're not having anything like the downtime we were having two years ago or when we were still getting things set up here, which is a huge relief. It's nice to be able to put a 169 MB mod up on the site and know it's not going to bring everything crashing down. It's very liberating to know we can do the kind of things we want to do with the site.

Reaching Kareem's record while still 24 and just about to enter his prime.... That's domination if I ever saw it.

Just don't sign a multi million dollar deal, become overweight and apathetic and find yourself playing in random European leagues during the twilight of your career.
