Alleged shooting incident in Newcastle

Man on run after suburban 'shooting'

POLICE want members of the public to ring Triple-O immediately if they see a man in a hooded jumper on the state's north coast after a man walked into a shopping centre and said he shot him.

Police are appealing for public assistance following an alleged shooting incident at Newcastle.

About 2.20pm today, a man believed to be aged in his 30s, walked into a shopping centre in Croudace Road at Elermore Vale, and told members of the public that he’d been shot.

He’s been taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

Police attended and a crime scene has been established.

Not long ago I went for a run by there and had to turn back since the centre has been closed off. I hadn't heard anything about it until I got home and looked it up a little while ago.

A man in a hooded jumper. That'll narrow it down.

At this time of year, it might, actually. Provided that he's not smart enough to take it off to avoid looking suspicious. Stranger things have certainly happened.

It's the middle of summer, so it's not like absolutely everybody is going to be wearing a jumper of any description. As for leaving it on, it wouldn't make him the stupidest criminal of the year.

No updates on this it seems, the suspect is probably long gone. Of course, if they're combing the "north coast" of NSW they're not going to find someone on the loose in Newcastle.
