Amare Talks About Durant

Apr 19, 2011

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles Clippers PF Amare Stoudemire went on a tirade after his team dropped game two to the visiting Stealth in their first round playoff series. Stoudemire took out his frustration by candidly answering questions about his claims of poor officiating and his distaste for the NBA’s leading scorer.

“I’m angry because Kevin Durant keeps getting all the calls and I get nothing. I’m a 20 points a night scorer and I am hardly getting to the line. This is why I am averaging like 10 points a game – the refs aren’t calling fouls for me,” Stoudemire complained, “I’m getting hit every time I got for a shot. If I was Durant, I would be scoring 30 too. The problem is that I’m not. This is outrageous.”

He also complained about Durant’s character traits, “He is scum. This guy has the worst attitude. I don’t know what all of you (media) have with him. You’ve all clearly got a few screws loose in your heads because you all seem to be in love with this guy. He’s overrated and if he comes near me off the court, he better watch out. He better not let me see that scrawny (expletive) of his.”

Durant Says ‘Bring It On’

Apr 20, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – Upon hearing Amare Stoudemire’s outburst after Game 2 of the Stealth-Clippers first round playoff series, Kevin Durant decided to sound off after the Stealth’s shootaround.

On the issue of getting preferential treatment from the officials, Durant said, “I get calls because I play hard and the only way teams can stop me is by tackling me. This guy sits on the baseline and expects to get the ball and get the calls. I’m not like that. I create opportunities. I think he is just jealous of my talent.”

Durant explained further, “Yes, he would score 30 if he was Kevin Durant. I’m glad he understands that he’s not me. I wouldn’t want to be like him. He is soft.”

“I won’t take too much notice of him calling me scum. This guy must be kidding himself,” Durant laughed about Stoudemire’s additional comments, “If he has a problem with me, then I will be glad to meet him off the court during the Summer. Bring it on.”

Durant concluded by adding even more insult, “I don’t even know why I’m fielding questions about Amare Stoudemire. The only thing he ever did was ride Steve Nash’s coattails but they never really went anywhere. He’s not on my level so he should feel blessed that I am even mentioning him in the same breathe as me.”

Kidd Ready To Lead By Example

Apr 20, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – Veteran PG Jason Kidd revealed that he is feeling his best leading up to Game 3 of the Seattle Stealth’s first round playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers. He stated that it was crucial that he step up in the third game as he wanted to help his team to a 2-1 series lead.

“Kevin scored 45 in game one and then had a triple double in game two,” Kidd recited, “We’re not a one man team but we are operating like one. Kevin needs our support and as team captain, I need to do that. With my injury gone, I am motivated to provide the team with a spark.”

Kidd has been no slouch as he has dished out 17 assists in the first two games of the series but has been noticeably slower on both ends of the floor. The veteran admitted to skipping a lot of team scrimmages due to his strained Achilles. “It was not optimal (to miss practices) but I had to stay in game shape and I did not want to aggravate the injury,” Kidd said. He also explained that he should take full advantage of the Clippers missing their rookie PG Ray Lliach. Kidd even joked, “I was so scared their rookie was going to run circles around me. That’s why I sent some people around LA to look for him and break his hand.”

When questioned on his view on the physical confrontations and verbal spats through the media between forwards Kevin Durant and the Clippers’ Amare Stoudemire, Kidd answered, “That’s not really my arena so I won’t get involved. I’m not going to get into the individual match up thing. I need to stay focused on winning playoff basketball.”

Good job getting the series tied, btw. Just realized I've been traded to Philadelphia, together there with Zoilo (I don't even remember who it was on the forums off the top of my head), 11-5 from him, 10-6 from me, 1-2 punch ho ho ho.

Yeah man, you're a sixth man so you played fairly well. You and homicide1550 are in Philly together... could one day be starting C/PG combo... your guy could improve faster though by participating in the playoff prediction contest!!! :P

Seattle Stealth Cruise To Game Three Win

Preview | Box Score | Recap

Image
Amare Stoudemire did his best with 23 points, 11 rebounds, 7 blocks

21 Apr, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – Kevin Durant could not remember the last time he had back to back double digit rebounding games. Two nights after willing his team to victory with a triple double, Durant followed that up with an efficient 20 points and 10 rebounds in a blowout victory for Seattle in Game 3.

Durant also could not remember the last time he saw Rocky Akonnor, DJ White, Chris Wilcox, Felix Mendez, and Sebastian Telfair on the court together for more than one quarter. The Seattle bench came on to play the rest of the game from midway through the third quarter.

The Stealth’s 93-81 score line did not reflect the nature of their win; the Clippers trailed by 20 for most of the second half. It was a terrible effort from the Seattle bench against the Clippers’ starting five that helped the Clippers make the score look a little bit more respectable. It didn’t come as much consolation as Seattle took a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 coming up on the Stealth home court.

“We really stunk it up out there,” Clippers PF Amare Stoudemire stated, “We were just really bad. It was embarrassing. The crowd really got into it, we don’t enjoy playing here.” Quickly becoming a rival to Stoudemire in this series, Durant approved of the home crowd’s scare tactics, “I love it when my fans get into it. They really helped a lot. It’s like have a sixth person on the court with you and they really made a nice assist all game long. This is my team baby.”

The Clippers looked lethargic and out-of-sync and one play in the second period said it all. Durant missed a close shot attempt that was rebounded by Andrew Bogut, Bogut missed the follow up attempt. David Lee was able to gather the miss and misfired on his own put back but the Stealth were put out of their misery as Lee got another rebound and finally scored. Bogut laughed after the game, “LA just did not look like they wanted to be here.”

Durant went as far as to question the legitimacy of the Clippers being in the postseason, “I don’t even know why we are playing against them. They’re not worthy to be stepping onto my home court.” Someone forgot to remind him how close Games 1 and 2 were.

Raja Bell finished with 19 points, Trevor Ariza added 17, and Bogut scored 14 for the Stealth. The Clippers got 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 blocks from Stoudemire, 14 from Rafer Alston and 12 apiece from Al Thornton and Eric Gordon.

George Karl was not happy with the performance of his substitutes during the final period. Although acknowledging that the Clippers had their best players on the court, the veteran coach thought his bench could have played better. “They looked terrible out there,” Karl stated, “A bunch of high school kids could play better.”

Durant however remained supportive of his teammates, “Coach is being harsh. He doesn’t even play them so when they step onto the court, he shouldn’t be expecting miracles. I mean, it’s not like everyone can be Kevin Durant.”

Notes: Ariza was electrifying once more with an array of acrobatic moves at the rim with a number of layups and dunks… Stoudemire and Durant were entangled in the second quarter, having to be separated by their teammates. Durant was fouled on a layup attempt by Stoudemire and became riled up. After confronting Stoudemire, the two were in a shoving match. Durant went to the line and missed but Bogut was able to grab the rebound and convert the bucket…

Great win. Love how Durant ends all of his quotes with "my team baby". Good luck in game 4. I have the feeling the Clippers win it, but hopefully you can go up 3-1. Also lol at Al Thornton going 5-16. Very realistic.

It was a typo. Thanks!

Don't you love the friendly banter between Amare and KD? Wait till we ask what Raja Bell thinks!

He was solid throughout the whole game... pissing me off cause he kept getting all the rebounds... but really had his best dunks in the final quarter against the likes of Akonnor as you can see in the picture. Also look at the Clippers bench and the player hiding his face in shame! :)

We really needed this big win. It was a blowout :) I felt sorry for the Clips so I sat my best players out.

Everyone loves Kevin 'Team' Durant. maybe that's his new nickname: Team
