THE TORONTO TIMESCALDERON HAS BEEN TRADED TO LAKERS FOR DEREK FISHERIt is official
Derek Fisher is a Raptor and
Jose Calderon is a Laker. The Raptors this season are looking like making a strong playoff run and it was vital for them to acquire someone with a wealth of experience. This experience came in the form of 13 year NBA veteran
Derek Fisher. The Lakers were also looking for a younger point guard which will keep them in championship contention for years to come. They saw
Calderon as a good choice due to his vision and his terrific passing.
Calderon and
Pau Gasol are also teammates on the Spanish National Team so when
Phil Jackson saw the opportunity to pair the two up he just couldn't resist. The trade works out for both teams as the Raptors gain experience and the Lakers gain a quality young player who continues to grow every season. It will believed that
Fisher will play in the Raptors upcoming match against the Celtics were he will come off the bench. We here at the Times can't wait to see what he adds to the Raptors.

Yeah probably

But I was hopeless with Calderon and couldn't knock down a shot so I just wanted a quality point who I knew I could knock down jumpers with.

Not a fan of the trade, but it balances out the Mayo trade I guess.

Think you should have gotten a first rounder out of it, but w/e.

If Calderon was going to be sitting on the bench anyway, it's not a bad trade. Fisher is still a very skilled guard and his clutch shooting is amongst the best in the league. It'll be interesting to see what effect this has on your team

Thanks for the support

Thats exactly why I wanted Fisher. When are you updating your nuggets dynasty?

You ripped some teams, and some teams ripped you. That is NBA.
Well, you should include Mbenga

or draft picks with it but...btw, will the Lakers start Farmar or Brown over Calderon?

THE TORONTO TIMESCALDERON NOT MISSED AS RAPTORS DEFEAT ATLANTIC RIVALS BOSTONThe Raptors went to the Banknorth Garden with a new face on the bench in
Derek Fisher. The trade to acquire Fisher has been critized by many but he proved all his doubters wrong. Off the bench
Fisher had a good Raptors debut scoring
12 points, 3 assists and 2 steals. The game itself was very odd as the top score on the Raptors team was
Tyrus Thomas with
16 points. However that just shows what an unselfish team this Raptors outfit is and how they have a real chance in this years playoff series. The Raptors have a tough 2 game stretch were they will face the San Antonio Spurs and the Orlando Magic.
Derek Fisher will also be introduced to the Toronto crowd tomorrow night and it will be interesting to see what their reaction is after a good game in Boston.

THE TORONTO TIMESDUNCAN LESS SPURS ARE NO MATCH FOR THE RAPTORSThe Raptors were at home and facing a Spurs outfit without their main man
Tim Duncan due to injury and were on the back foot from the beginning. The Raptors have been in great form lately and credit has to be given to the bench and the points they are putting up from the likes of
Thomas and DeRozan. For the second game now no Raptors player has scored over 20 points which is very odd as they have 2 league leading pointscores in
Bosh and Turkoglu. However even if they're not scoring the high points a wins a win and here at the TImes we'll take it. The next match is in Orlando were the Magic are eager to get vengence after they were mocked by the Raptors in a heated battle in their last encounter.

Yeah I know, I should make him hand in a sample to see if he tests positive to performance enhancers.

How did Fisher do in your last game? He seems like a great addition to your second unit.

Yeah he makes my second unit so strong and if Banks has a form slump or injury he could just slide into the role. He got 10 pts, 1 rebs, 4 ast, 2 stl.

Nice. That's almost Sixth Man of the Year caliber.

Yeah hopefully he can keep it up. But what I most wanted him for is the playoffs and in clutch situations.

THE TORONTO TIMESDEREK FISHER HITS THE GAME WINNER IN ORLANDOThe Raptors and Magic faced off for the third time this season in what has become a heated battle between the two teams. However unlike anytime before the Raptors had
Derek Fisher and in the end he proved to be the difference. Throughout the game off the bench
Fisher had been consistent and then with a minute thirty to go
Jay Triano decided to take off
Banks and put
Fisher on. When
Fisher went on the court he had an immediate impact and stripped the ball of
Jameer Nelson and then drove to the basket for a lay up. Then the score was 98-97 with 24 seconds on the clock and who else but
Derek Fisher was handed the ball and cool as a cucumber he held the ball and then when the clock was getting close to zero he made a drive to the hoop and then pulled back and made an easy jumper.
Fishers finished with
16 points (8-11 FG), 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Fishersperformance really illustrates why the Raptors were willing to trade away
Calderon and how vital Fisher will be at the end of games and more importantly in the playoffs. The Raptors next challange is the 76ers and lets hope they can continue this streak and get the win.
