Finally finished the story. ^^ Got the game a year ago. About every 2 month I find myself playing and having fun with it for about 2 weeks. Then I stop playing and get bored. So it took a while to finish. Had my problems killing Jimmy P but hell I was glad when this moron died :)

Cool game.

You kill Pegerino? omfgspoilers!

I never actually finished the game. I killed Darko (heh) and lost interest in the game. Tried to pick it up again a couple times but I could never get back into it.

Played both endings, think I liked the storyline where Roman stays alive a bit better. Looking forward to the 2nd DLC, be nice to see what Luis does like after Niko and the McReary brothers rob the bank, and how he gets away after busting up that diamond exchange.

That's how it's been with me, I've never gotten into it as much as I was hoping I would. With GTA IV, there's almost a bit too much of the game for my liking, which is a weird thing for me to say considering how addicted I've been to Fallout 3 (and considering I've been much more of a fan of the GTA series as a whole) but I think it comes back to my favourite GTA games being the ones that are fairly straightforward with the side missions being largely optional or at least not requiring constant activity (turf war, empire building etc).

necroing this thread cuz i've been playing it after buying it for my 360...am i the only person severely underwhelemed by this game? The cars are too realistic (handling and driving just isnt fun if they act like real cars, thats what gran turismo is for), its far too easy to die (i know they want me to use cover and be intelligent, but whats the fun in that?), Without tweaking the default graphics make nothing visible, I can barely understand 3/4 of the actors through their faked accents....

Not to say its not a good game: it certainly is. I just cant believe it got as much hype as it did.

I think the car handling and cover system makes it way funner. One you get the hang of it, you can still rack up 6 stars and have epic chases.

You know...I'd probably agree. I still haven't touched the game in months and as much as I like GTA and as often as I've said I'll pick it up again, I'm just not moved to do it. I'm sure I will at some point and as you said, it's not like it's a bad game; it's just failed to get me hooked as previous GTA games have.

To me, it's mainly the optimization issues on PC to really got to me, and also the fact that there were almost no customization opportunities for your character compared to San Andreas (clothes, tattoos, hairdo, slim/bulky).
The story was overall much more mature than the previous one so I guess I can understand why some people would have not found the game as fun as the previous ones, but I'd agree with Lamrock, I personally really enjoyed the relative sense of realism that they tried to bring with the car damages, the level of difficulty, etc.
Just mixed feelings overall because of how bad it was running on PC...Aside from that, it'd probably be one of my favorite games.

I'm all for better story/more realistic guns/more realistic clothing...but im not for sacrificing in the game play due to a more mature story...*shrugs* personal prefs i guess. I always hated metal gear/any game that gave me a gun and didnt make me a grizzled man with a troubled past covered in blood.

I personally love(d) GTA IV, but I am also someone who would whack off to a game like SWTFU, or Backbreaker and enjoys just bumping into pedestrians...walking, not in a car.

I don't mind the darker or more mature storyline, that's fine by me. Perhaps it was the realism that they went for in the driving mechanics, I know the issues with the camera didn't help. Too much stuff on the side to worry about as well, which was one of the things I didn't like about San Andreas.

I liked GTA IV a lot, but San Andreas is still my favorite. I understand Rockstar taking the series in a different direction. I just wish there was more to do in IV after the main missions are over. That's why I love SA(in addition to the map, story, characters and soundtrack). The only thing IV has over SA is graphics.

beat it tonight...loved the final cutscene
rarely have i seen a character who spent his entire career killing to make money look truly distraught at the thought of realizing all he's done. The cut to the Liberty City Statue of Liberty seemed to taunt niko saying yeah you're free...now what?...i was impressed. Or maybe i've taken too many film classes

Decent game yes?
best game evar? still a no

While i enjoyed it, it seemed even more repetitive than old GTAs...honestly i'd wish they'd cut the cellphone dating/mandate shit. It was useless the entire game. If i want bonuses...i'll cheat...plain and simple.

IMO, Niko and Vic Vance are the most tragic GTA protagonisis.

Second. CJ probably follows them, he's at least more noble than some of the other protagonists.

I can't say I've ever finished a GTA game, but IV is the closest I've come. Its been over a year since I played it seriously. Last thing I remember was killing Darko but I've pretty much forgotten the story.

Thought it was shit the first time I played through it, but second time around I got right into it (but still not a great game). The thing that really pisses me off is there is practically nothing to do after you've finished the story.. SA had the car exports (better than IV because you actually had to find the car), and truck missions, pimping missions... It was awesome. SA completely dominates IV
