That reason right there could be a very reason for poor playing by Gilbert this season. These days, it's Earl Boykins whom I want to watch more from Wizards. What a player he is. Spudd Webb, Mugsy, and now Earl. Truly amazing players. Anyways back to the topic, I wonder if he'll still marry her after all the stuff that's going on.

I'd forgotten about that. At the moment all we have to go on is tabloid-style gossip, Shaq's name could simply be thrown in there because of the friendship between his ex-wife and Arenas' wife, all to make for a more shocking and compelling story. Whatever the case may be here though, what was said about Shaq in that other threads holds true, he's involved himself in some very admirable philanthropic efforts over the years which is certainly commendable.

He said it was because she was stealing his money or something and there were rumors she wasn't contesting it because of his cheating. But they made up until last month when she filed this time.

I'd never known about him cheating on his wife, never really looked into Shaq to be honest. But cheating and adultery etc. is just one of those issues that gets under my skin.

He has barely played in the last two years due to injuries, which could also be a reason if not the only one.

If any of this speculation has merit, the Cavs-Wizards games should be interesting.

He's also tried to refine his game so he could become a playmaking PG. Problem is, he has below-average court vision. The only reason he plays the point is because he's too much of a defensive liability at the 2. Keeping the #5 pick and drafting Ricky Rubio would have solved both problems, but I guess getting Mike Miller and a shitty version of Arenas instead is OK I guess.

I don't know if that would've solved any problem if Rubio doesn't come over. The #5 salary slot was never enough to pay for his buyout.

The Wizards aren't a team built to win a title. The Foye/Miller for #5 trade confirmed that. Undo the trade and the team is pretty much where they are now, except they have a potential star coming in two years, and expectations are lowered for the time being. Rather than being a 7-13 in "win now" mode, they could have been a 7-13 team with a light at the end of the tunnel. Rubio would have been a perfect fit in Washington, but instead they opted to surround their three injury-prone, no defense "stars" with mediocre aging talent.

Well, I don't know about that. (I'm not disagreeing with you, I mean I did predict them to win what 30 games or something, but it's not like anyone else will debate.) We don't know anything about Rubio yet, it could have just been money down the hole. And they did have reason to "bet" on Miller/Foye providing key qualities for a 45 win team to make them a faux-contender.

That said, Miller expires this year, and they can ditch Foye if they want. So it was mostly a "free" bet.

Now, if you want to say they should have used that pick on Jennings, Lawson, Blair, Austin "2013 MVP" Daye, etc. I think there's a lot stronger of an argument there than on Rubio alone. At least they'd have a tangible player today, instead of the "promise" of Rubio down the line. That makes the trading of the #5 pick less defensible.

Then again, I think they're required to trade the #5 pick if they get it for overpaid complementary pieces or something in punishment for the whole Jordan era.

I almost mentioned Lawson and Blair, but didn't want to adjust my point because they would have been able to get Blair in the second round anyway, and could have traded down a dozen spots for Lawson. Not to mention the Wizards are married to Arenas with that horrible contract he's locked into. Getting Jennings or Lawson would would waste their talents being benchwarmers on a bad team. The whole point of Rubio is his ability to guard defending two guards thus allowing Arenas play his true position.

Also, doubtful though it may be, Rubio may have come over if he was guaranteed a starting spot on a team with stars (C-list all-stars, but all-stars nonetheless) and a better city than Minneapolis...

I don't think Rubio would have ever come over unless he was draft top three. He would've had to pay millions just to play in the NBA, and wouldn't have been paid until his fourth year.

And D.C. Metro is hardly a better city than the Twin Cities. One's a hell hole, one's probably a top ten MSA in the country.

The Wizards real problem was they didn't have a fire sale on Arenas, Jamison and Butler starting last December.

Arenas had a triple double tonight, but his free throws... Nonetheless, must have been an awesome game to watch.

Earl Boykin's amazing. Every one of his shots deserve to be on highlights.

Arenas has a reputation for missing crucial free throws towards the end of the game. The Wizards - Cavs series a couple of years back for instance.

Possibly, though I'd suggest he's being genuine in that regard. I suppose it depends if his charity predates his infidelity.
