TURKOGLU HAS A BLOCKBUSTER IN HOLLYWOOD

The Raptors went to the Staples Centre with a lot of confidence after dominating Chicago. In the 1st Hedo Turkoglu got off to an electric start and had a career best night. He finished with a triple double having scored 50 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. 50 points is a career high for Hedo and on his way to 50 points he drained 8 3's with is another career high. The Staples Centre went dead silent after Turkoglu made shot after shot. Due to the blowout the Raptors bench was given lots of minutes and rookie DeMar DeRozan took advantage of this and had a solid night with 13 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assits. DeRozan has shown promising signs espically in defence and if Toronto find some form and start winning more games he will find his minutes increasing. After a terrific start to a four game road trip the Raptors travel to the Suns next and will have a tough challange in Nash and Stoudemire.

RAPTORS TO HOT FOR THE SUNS

After Steve Nash broke a spur in his foot the task of defeating the Suns was made alot easier. Hedo Turkoglu carried his great form into the game and finished with Lebron James like figures with 34 points, 6 boards and 5, assits. However the win didn't come easy as the Suns attacked the glass and finished with 14 offensive boards. But to the credit of the Raptors they dug deep and put in a huge team effort with 3 players scoring over 20 points. One of those players was rookie DeMar DeRozan who has started to find his feet in the NBA. He finished with a career high 21 points and also had 5 boards and 8 assists to his name. Toronto have now tallied 3 straight wins and are starting to look like a good team. The next week will be very challanging to the Raptors as they face the Nuggets, Magic and Celtics. Will they be up to it?

RAPTORS BLOSSOM IN THE MILE HIGH CITY

The Raptors came to the Pepsi Centre on a good run and faced a team again with a key player injured. Steve Nash was out for Phoenix in the Raptors last match and they now faced a Nuggets team without Chauncey Billups who like Nash has a foot injury. The rookie Ty Lawson stood in for Billups and played with great skill but nobody on the Nuggets roster could stop the hot shooting of the Raptors. Turkoglu kept up his terrific form and scored 43 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks. OJ Mayo also had a high scoring night and finished with 34 points. Bosh played his usual role and earned himself a double double. The only positives for the Nuggets were that Nene had 7 blocks and that one of their key players is due to return in the following week. For the Raptors right now they are in tremendous form earning themselves their 4th straight win and a road record of 5 - 1. Another great sign for the Raptors is the form of Hedo Turkoglu who has scored 34 or more in 3 straigth games. Will Turkoglu be able to keep up this fine form? Or will he fall off cloud nine in his next game against the Utah Jazz? What the people of Toronto do hope for is that he continues this great form into the next week when the Raptors face the Magic.

Oh, I feel the Nuggets frustration! Nice win though, you're really racking up the points. That pic of Derozen is sweet.

THE RAPTORS MAKE IT FIVE WINS IN A ROW

The Raptors went to Utah on a four game winning streak and were looking to make there road trip a perfect four out of four. The teams were very evenly matched and when Chris Bosh fouled out at the beginning of the 3rd the Jazz gained alot of confidence. However as he has done all road trip Hedo Turkoglu stood up to the challange and had another great night with 34 points, 6 boards, 8 assists and 4 blocks. Special mention must be given to the Raptors bench who put in a huge effort with Marcus Banks scoring a season high 18 points and rookie DeMar DeRozan continuing his good form and earning himself 20 points. The Raptors are now on a five game winning streak and are trying to prove to the NBA world that they are a strong contender in the Eastern Conference. They currently sit in 4th place but with only having one win at home this season people are yet to believe that the Raptors are really a 4th or 5th seed team. The Raptors next game is at home against the Miami Heat and it is vital for them to win inorder to prove that they really are the real deal.

RAPTORS AND HEAT BATTLE DOWN TO THE WIRE

The Raptors returned to the Air Canada Centre after a successful 4 game road trip and were looking to prove to all the skeptics that they were a good team and could win at home. The match was a high scoring affair with both teams trading baskets. Chris Bosh had an amazing game with 26 points, 13 rebounds, 8 assits and 8 blocks. Turkoglu continued his good form by getting a double double with 36 points and 11 boards. Jose Calderon also earned a double double with 13 points and 11 assits. The Heats best player was D-Wade who scored 28 points but unfortunetly his efforts were not enough. By winning against the Heat the Raptors have proved that they can win at home in tough situations but the real challange will come in their next game against the Orlando Magic. Will Turkoglu make the Magic regret letting him go? We will all be waiting in suspense to find out.

RAPTORS SURGE IN 4th IS NOT ENOUGH TO DEFEAT THE DOMINANT ORLANDO MAGIC

The Raptors faced Orlando aiming for their tenth win with a record of 9 - 4. The Raptors got off to an ok start but in the 2nd and 3rd quarter the Magic dominated. Leading the Magic charge was superman Dwight Howard who had 30 points and 16 boards to his name. The Raptors bench were brought on in the start of the 4th and made a huge surge and drew back the lead to only 10 points. Hedo Turkoglu had a good night against his old club with 40 points, 5 boards, and 6 assists and drained a crucial 3(pictured below) to give the Raptors hope with 4 seconds remaining in the game. However the Raptors could not foul the Magic quick enough and went down in a tough game. Another contributer to the Raptors cause was Chris Bosh who had himself 12 points, 8 boards, 7 assists and 3 blocks. Even though the Raptors lost they can hold their head high as they made a excellent challange to the best team in the East and almost came away with the win. The Raptors look to get back on track against the Pacers in their next game.

RAPTORS GET THEIR TENTH WIN OF THE SEASON

The Raptors faced the Pacers at home and started poorly and seemed to be remembering the night befores lost. However in the 2nd quarter they started to get into their groove and dominate the Pacers. Hedo Turkoglu was the high man with 29 points. Chris Bosh had a solid double double with 16 points and 12 boards. Bench player Marcus Banks also had a great night and hit 16 points. The Raptors are currently 2nd in the Eastern Conference Standings behind the Cavs and are starting to build up solid team chemistry. However they have been unable to beat there top Eastern rivals as they went down to both the Cavs and the Magic. They face the Celtics later this week and they must come away with a result in order to prove to themselves that they are a top Eastern Conference contender.

CHARLOTTE TO STRONG FOR RAPTORS

The Raptors came to Charlotte with a lot of confidence and erupted in the first. However the team didn't play as a unit and there was no teamwork. The only player who scored over 15 points was Hedo Turkoglu who had 42 points and 9 boards. Rookie DeMar DeRozen has been making good progress in the NBA and had a solid night with 5 points, 5 boards and 5 assists. Charlotte took control of the game and dominated. New off season acquistion Tyson Chandler proved worthwile as he had 26 points and 23 rebounds. The Raptors travel to Boston next and are trying to prove that they can win against the best teams. But after this loss to the Bobcats will their confidence be broken. We will have to wait and find out.

RAPTORS FAIL AGAINST THE CELTICS

Toronto traveled to the Banknorth Garden after a loss to the Bobcats and both teams came out trying to land the big shots. However both teams shooted poorly in the first quarter and it was dominated by defence. After the first the players started to find their rythem and drown some shots. Toronto had great determination in this game as they were trying to prove they could beat one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference after losses to Cleveland and Orlando. The Raptors stood up to the challange with some great performances but were unable to get over the line in the end. Chris Bosh had a great night with 22 points, 14 boards and 4 blocks. Bargnani also had a double double with 14 points and 14 boards. However the Celtics were the better team and a great performance from Kevin Garnett ensured the victory as he had 17 points and 22 boards. The Raptors slide to a two game losing streak and face a tough Suns with injured point guard Steve Nash set to return.
