I used it for the entire game until recently, when I've been rocket launchering people to start an attack.

I keep one of each type of weapon, but I must say I rarely use the rocker launcher, maybe only with bosses so far. I try to use my sniper rifle as much as possible to kill from afar at first, then I finish everyone off with my incendiary gun, my explosive revolver, or the latest "terrible scattergun" that I got (66x12 in damage  ).

I'm at level 28 now and I gotta say I'm amazed how incredibly huge the overall map is. It didn't feel that way at first, and it's obviously not as rich in content as other games with large world maps, like Fallout 3 or Far Cry 2 for example, but it is still very impressive. It's that much more loot you can collect and that many more enemies you can kill in order to gain experience points.

EDIT: it does contain quite a few spoilers, but for those like me who want to check out the size of the whole map, this can help.

Killed Sledge and got to level 20, and now my guy is pretty dominant. Have an excellent sniper rifle/shotgun combo going on, and my Bloodwing is getting better and better. Haven't started the missions in the new area though

I prefer this to that map, badman: http://zfire.free.fr/BL/img/background75.png
Same thing. But, easier to just use a standard scroll in my browser than the site. Even bigger version at: http://zfire.free.fr/BL/img/background100.png but I thought it was a bit too close of zoom.

I'm level and chest farming a bit before I continue on to the end game. Found this cool little outpost with four or five high level guys, I can just kill them over and over from a distance. Then grab their red chest. Also a little camp with only two guys who I just drive over, that has two chests. Plus the standard New Haven and Old Haven quick farming. Got a 550 damage sniper, and 622 damage rocket launcher now.

Since I have the manual-less Steam version and I'm too lazy to research, I was wondering if someone could elaborate a few points for me, it's probably pretty stupid:

- The reloading time of the shield, does this refer to how long it takes to start reloading, or the total delay for it to be fulled reloaded?
- Is it possible to actually use the artifacts found for Bloodwing (like corrosive, shock, etc.)? When I go to the skill tab, it only mentions the initial fire feature, but it does not give me the choice to select any other artifact that I have available...Or does it accumulate all the features just by keeping the artifacts in your inventory? Because I keep selling them, thinking they're useless at this point...
- I've had a glitch with the available space in my inventory, I discard 2 weapons in order to get better ones for example, but instead of 2 I can only loot 1, and it tells me that I'm already full after that. That made me wonder, the inventory shows all the extra spaces that you obtained by repairing claptraps, but that "SDU" stuff seems to be taking up one available slot itself. Do you actually lose that available slot if you sell it (only for $58 I believe  ), or is it a permanent inventory enlargement?

EDIT: nevermind, I'm a retard. I went all the way through level 30 without realizing how to use the extra spaces awarded by the claptraps... :wall:
No wonder I had to keep selling stuff all the time.

The higher the number the faster the shield reloads. (Which yes, is backwards of what you'd think.)

Go to the skill point thing, and the icon to the left of the large Bloodwing one click to change elements on him. You can only get level one on two and level two on two during the first play through that I'm aware of.

Level 23 now, and starting to burn out on the game a little. Also made my first truly bad purchase in an expensive sniper rifle with improved power, but pathetic fire rate. (Another number that you'd expect to want to be low) Doing the New Haven missions and I'm hating the newfound emphasis on vehicle usage. They aren't so hard to control (I think its one of the advantages to playing this on a console), but its just not as fun. Weird that my sniper is considerably more powerful than the vehicle's rocket launcher. :?

I guess it was the same thing as the increased backpack space, you probably just have to click once on the artifact icon to activate it and make it available to choose from, right?

Level 30 right now, and it's certainly much better to have that much space available in the inventory, it changes everything...

That game is killing me, spending all my time on it...It's gonna end up costing me a divorce or something.
Level 33 right now, and trying to compete all the side quests before what seems to be one of the last missions from the main quest.

On a side note, I'm surprised that so many people seem to have chosen Mordecai as their character, given his fairly crappy special skill...I was expecting to see a lot more Soldiers. I'll probably play again from the start after this, but I'm wondering whether to play as the Soldier or the Siren.

Really? I got pretty bored after getting to level 23 about a dozen hours in. Short attention span I guess.

Just finished it at level 36 and with 40 hours put into it. Fantastic game but very disappointing ending as mentioned in any review, because nothing happens.
If you wait til the credits are over, you can keep playing, but I was done with all the active missions and I'm not sure you would be able to get new ones anywhere.
It feels like I didn't necessarily go everywhere though (or saw all the weapons obviously), so I started a new character right away. I'll see if the Siren isn't too annoying to play with, otherwise I'll pick the Soldier.

If you go back to your save you can do "playthrough 2" and replay all the missions at the higher level and with all your fancy gear. It also highly increases the drop rates.

Don't give up on the Siren until you get the phasewalk.

I guess I didn't really want to play the whole thing again with a fully developed character. I don't know if the enemies would have been scaled to my level or not, but it wouldn't be that much fun not having to struggle with crappy weapons and skills for the first few hours at least...

I like the Siren so far, her special skill does look like it will come in quite handy when you're in trouble. Already at level 12 or 13 after a couple of hours into it, it feels like it's going a little faster this time around.

When you do "Playthrough 2" and beyond you start where you are, whatever level it is, with all the weapons you have. The enemies, weapons, etc. all scale up to your level. (So if you're level 36, the old level one enemies are 36, etc.)

You still playing Siren badman? Kaboom semi-bailed on our co-op playthrough so I copied the save and went off on my own. (And holy crap do I rip through the missions on second playthrough.)

And just, wow. I'm playing it completely different from how I did with the sniper. I fear absolutely nothing because of the Phasewalk. I'm sniping with her, even better than I was as sniper in these areas because of getting used to the quirks of the game plus her increased fire rate, then closing with shotgun, PHASEWALKING with an element all over their faces, then finishing off the stragglers with the shotgun. Her fire rate with SMGs and pistols keeps one in my third slot and some of them are total rape.

Whenever I see enemies bunching up now I just sprint into them and trigger the Phasewalk to hit them all with the damage instead of holding back trying to snipe. She's a fucking death machine. It feels unfair half the time. Spiderants are going to get ass-raped when I get to them instead of knocking me around.

The difference with Lilith has made me want to try Brick at least for his PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH OUT ALL UR BLOOD, Soldier still seems like the odd man out. (But probably great against bosses.)

Still playing as Lilith, level 26 right now. I feel like I'm finding somewhat better weapons this time around, compared to playing with Mordecai. She's definitely more enjoyable than him.
I've never played online once in my life, but I might give it a shot if you want, that game sounds like tons of fun in co-op...

I hadn't played Borderlands for weeks, being so busy with STALKER: CS, but the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC is amazing. It's funny as shit and the art design is really cool.

Forgot there was a thread for this, so reposted:
Back to Borderlands because I read the Wiki and found all the cut out material. Apparently the bulk of the story elements were cut out as testers thought it interfered with shootin crap and leveling up.

History of the Planet here: http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Pandora#History
Helena Pierce's various audio files that describe the backstory of each location:
phpBB [video]

Pierce's files on the critters around Pandora:
phpBB [video]

There's also a good amount of backstory and hierarchy to the bandits, the Kobbs, Marcus Kincaid, etc. that can be found on the Wiki now. (Including an interesting theory as to the true reality of what happens in the game.)

All of which was cut and either left on the disc (the audio files) or stuffed into the official guide.
