New tool similar to Photoshop for free

Hey guys,

I found a windows version of a photoshop clone for Linux called GIMP... its just like photoshop but it is free.... Hope this is help to all who cannot afford Photoshop and want to patch in Windows..

yea check it out dahl... I have started to use it.. it is a tad different than photoshop... but does not take long to get used to.. best of all its Free and you can get the same Photoshop results with it!!

I can afford it, actually, my sisters credit card can afford it.

lol @ Psycho Jackal. I'm actually using Adobe Photoshop CS 8.0, its not really much of an improvement over 7.0 as far as I can see. I've used GIMP on Linux and it is a pretty decent program, but I use Alien Skin Eyecandy, Splat, and KPT Effects and I doubt if they work with GIMP so I'm sticking with PS

nothing is better than photoshop, and i dont need to afford it to get it. any graphic programs not called photoshop is crap, and btw, what's not free these days. but thanks for telling us about GIMP.

if you say so... heh... Gimp 2.0 can do just exactly the same things as Photoshop... even can use its 3rd party plugins...

i highly doubt it...no one here knows exactly what photoshop can do, so dont jump to conclusion like that. GIMP might be able to imitate some mindless crap but not the powerful features that makes photoshop god in its own sense.

sorry but nothing comes close to photoshop for 2d work....despite i do feel slightly limited in a few ways with it but nothing comes close to it and i should know im a professional graphic designer

I think the major change is the ability to work in a non-square pixel format [pixel aspect ratio of 0.9 rather than 1.0]. This is especially useful when mixing photoshop images with video when editing video.

Even if Photoshop is the best program in its field, still big ups to ckenda1 for looking after those who might prefer an alternative.
