Should KG be in the all-star with his current numbers

Postby nextnba on Sat Nov 14, 2009 1:05 pm

KG is averaging about 13.5 pg, 8.0 reb, 1.22 blk, 2.5 ast, 1.22 stl. Not very impressive numbers for all-starters. So he still be in?

its not about numbers its about who is most popular that the fans vote for and odds are KG will make it in.

All star starters depends on who has the most votes by positions, if the fans voted him as a starter then he will be a starter despite of the stats

I assume Bosh will wind up as the starter due to the Raptor Truthers and especially if he keeps up this 29/12 average deal.

KG could be a reserve depending on the Celtics record, if they keep up top I'd assume the coaches will pick him no matter who might be more deserving.

Of course, there is still three months left. Picking All-Stars after 7-9 games seems like an odd idea.

If enough people want to see him start regardless and he gets the votes, sure.

If players like Jamaal Magloire, Antoine Walker, Theo Ratliff, and Kenyon Martin were selected to part of the all-star team in the past, why wonder about KG.

Kenyon Martin was a beast for the Nets towards the end.

Even so, what he did was still not far off with KG's performance this past 10 games.

Magloire was worthy

he had some good numbers the year he made the squad. he probably should have won the mvp in that game if the EAST won

If Bosh manages to upset Garnett for the starting nod, I wouldn't be surprised if Garnett lost out. Josh Smith is the favorite for MIP so far as he's been a superstar so far this season, and is the reason for Atlanta's early success. 16 PPG and 9 RPG with 2.5 BPG may not stand out much, but his 58.6% shooting from the field (In his first 5 seasons, he never shot over 50%), and 25.3 PER is amazing. His stats will probably level off, but as it stands, he is the arguably second best power forward in the league.

Quite likely, however if the Celtics remain one of the top teams in the East by the All-Star break I expect at least Pierce will be selected as a reserve.
