So, welcome to my 185th dynasty / association. This time I'm picking the Wizards as a challenge to take them to the top and also make Arenas one of the best players of the league (well, he already is, but he will need some time to be back at that level after his injuries). My idea here is to post a game recap on alternate days, also a betting / prediction game, on alternate days as well (not a game recap day). I'm planning some articles as well, and if everything goes well, include you guys in the 2010 and 2011 draft. Yeah, I'm going for at least 1 season. I want this story to be part of the 2k HOF after Sit's Stealth and Valor's Bulls / Nets. So I need you guys to wish me luck and will try to e-mail myself with backups every day.

Well, as I've said over and over again, good luck and I hope this lasts.

Wizards appoint new Assistant Coach
WashingtonWizards.com | October 5th, 2009
WASHINGTON - Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld announced today that French coach Thierry Tirieux has joined the Wizards coaching staff, along Randy Wittman, Don Zierden, Sam Cassell and Wes Unseld Jr., as the newest assistant coach of the team.
A league source said the contract was for two with a team option for a third year. The Wizards zeroed in on Tirieux on Monday. Tirieux is considered to be one of the most qualified basketball minds in Europe, having been a coach for three Euroleague teams (Greece's Panathinaikos from 2003/04 to 2004/05, Spain's DKV Joventut - Ricky Rubio's former team - from 2004/05 to 2006/07, and France's ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne, from 2006/07 to 2008/09 - last season winning the LNB Pro A trophy as co-coach with Vincent Collet), all making at least the quarter-finals of the Euroleague on the seasons he was coaching, and getting public acclaim from top NBA coaches such as Charlotte Bobcats' Larry Brown and Los Angeles Lakers' Phil Jackson.
The Wizards are clearly in rebuilding mode, revamping their team with several trades and signings; first acquiring Mike Miller and Randy Foye from Minnesota and signing former San Antonio Spur Fabricio Oberto. While the 6-foot-10 Oberto can easily slip into the frontcourt, the 6-8, 218-pound Miller does not seem to have a spot because he's a natural shooting guard as is DeShawn Stevenson.

you over-praise me

Sit's association is on a different level then mine
but anyways, nice choice of team, hopefully this one is problems-free and runs on for a while

Cant wait to see a 2K10 association get going, although i'll be sticking to my 2K9 Nets one until a few seasons have gone past and i have gotten used to 2K10 enough so i can start an Association, or a My Player story with it. Anyhow, Good luck once again

Maybe, but they are the best two associations I've seen on the forums. Hope I can get to that level.

Starting before its even out - good luck with this. Despite these never seeming to last, I admire your undying interest in these to almost always have one active. I usually go into dynasty hibernation 6-8 months out of the year.

Wizards announce Preseason Schedule
WashingtonWizards.com | October 6th, 2009
WASHINGTON - The Washington Wizards announced their eight-game 2009 preseason schedule today, highlighted by the team’s first-ever preseason game at the Siegel Center in Richmond, VA, on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. Washington will host Allen Iverson, Rudy Gay, O.J. Mayo and the Memphis Grizzlies in Richmond today at 7:00 p.m. before returning to DC to play Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 9 at 7:00 p.m. in their lone preseason game at Verizon Center.
“We’re eager to get the 2009-10 season underway and for our fans to have the chance to get their first look at this new era of Wizards basketball during our preseason games in Richmond and Verizon Center,” said Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld. “We’ve enjoyed the first-class facilities and hospitality at the Siegel Center during our last five training camps, so we’re very excited to officially begin the preseason there this year.”
In addition, Washington will travel to play Toronto (Oct. 11), Detroit (in Grand Rapids, MI, on Oct. 13), Cleveland (Oct. 14), Atlanta (Oct. 19), Philadelphia (Oct. 20) and Chicago (Oct. 23) in preseason action. The Wizards’ 2009-10 regular season begins on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in Dallas, while the regular season home slate commences on Saturday Oct. 31 vs. New Jersey at 7:00 p.m.
Fans looking to see the Wizards in action at Verizon Center can purchase a variety of ticket plans for the 2009-10 season. For more information, fans can call the Wizards sales office at 202-661-5050 or visit WashingtonWizards.com. Individual game tickets will go on sale at a later date and will be made available through all Ticketmaster outlets, at the Verizon Center Box Office and online at WashingtonWizards.com.

Well good luck with this one. Seems like youre pretty motivated to get this one on HOF calibre. You should not put too much pressure on you. It always has to be fun for you. Still it looks really capable so far.
Damn, how gifted is this Wizards team. I mean we all know the big three but with Nick Young, Javale McGee, Randy Foye and Andray Blatche you have some talent in there.

Wizards open preseason against revamped Grizzlies
Preview | Recap | Game Info | Full Play-by-Play |
Watch HighlightsNo Gilbert Arenas, no chance. That's the long and short of Washington's miserable 19-win season, which started 4-23 and improved only marginally afterward. Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison did their level best for a club who lost its coach, Eddie Jordan (now in Philadelphia), early in the campaign, but under interim boss Ed Tapscott, the club didn't find much of any Wizardry, particularly on defense. If ever there was an apt occasion to take a single season and simply toss it out the window --without assigning real long-term value to 82 nights of drudgery-- this wipeout in Washington fit the bill.
With a healthy Arenas back at the Verizon Center, the Wizards have every chance of returning to the playoffs. New coach Flip Saunders might have failed in Detroit, but that unfulfilled tenure came at a place where NBA Finals appearances were the standard of success. In the District of Columbia, merely crashing the Eastern Conference's eight-team party rates as a big accomplishment. All told, the Wizards have the superstar and the coach needed to play into the month of May. Recently signed French coach Thierry Tirieux, new right hand of Saunders, needs to make sure that Arenas doesn't sabotage the locker room; with the likes of Butler and Jamison on the team, Flip isn't likely to flip out. Indeed, the Wizards should be on their way back to the postseason.
Now, Memphis. While this disjointed and tossed-about franchise stands on the verge of being sold, the on-court fortunes of the Grizzlies didn't exactly provide a welcome distraction. On the morning of Dec. 16, the Grizz were 9-15; not in good position, but not a laughingstock, either. By the end of January, however, the merits of coach Marc Iavaroni's defense-first scheme were hard to find, as the team lost 20 of 22 games on its way to an 11-35 record. By that time, GM Chris Wallace fired Iavaroni, a former Phoenix Suns assistant, and replaced him with Lionel Hollins. Perhaps O.J. Mayo might become a superstar in the future, but in 2008-'09, the standout from USC hoisted too many bad shots and did not yet feel the rhythms of professional basketball, which require a keen sense of when to shoot... and more problematically, when not to. All in all, it was just another year spent in basketball hell for the Grizzlies. Purgatory would sound good by comparison.
Hakim Warrick took his scoring punch to Milwaukee. The disgustingly, grossly overpaid Zach Randolph brought his legacy of underachievement to Memphis. The Grizzlies' handling of veterans (incoming and outgoing) does not suggest that positive change is on the way in Tennessee. On the other hand, the team's draft acquisitions -- center Hasheem Thabeet and versatile forwards DeMarre Carroll and Sam Young -- and the signing of Allen Iverson could make the Grizz an interesting team with loads of point-producing studs... in two years. This is a very young team that will go through a lot of additional growing pains under Hollins, now the permanent coach after his interim stint last season. Ignore the win-loss total this season at FedEx Forum; the key will be for Memphis to improve to the point where the 2011 season can be seen as a gateway toward a potential playoff run. In 2010, this hapless franchise needs to tell the rest of the league that its roster -- with an average age of just 24 years at the moment -- will be ready to do big things at ages 26 and 27.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Yep, I hope it gets at least into HOF consideration. It's fun for me because I end up doing the previews and articles at my work, so I save a lot of time now.
Great roster, eh?
If you want to bet for the game, I will post the game at this time tomorrow, so hurry up. You don't have to bet in every bet, only in the ones you want.

Arenas To Score At Least 20 :: 2/1
