Top 10 Players 2000-2009

Link

1. Tim Duncan
2. Kevin Garnett
3. Kobe Bryant
4. Dirk Nowitzki
5. LeBron James
6. Shaquille O'Neal
7. Jason Kidd
8. Dwyane Wade
9. Tracy McGrady
10. Allen Iverson

I'm surprised, I figured number three would be number one. Kind of a toss-up as far as those top three are concerned, but I'd probably go with them as my top three in some order and the order that's been chosen isn't all that unreasonable.

Why is Duncan first despite KG having higher offensive rating and win shares? (Yes, they are extremely close in both cases, but I'm curious as to why TD got the edge)

I was a bit surprised when I saw Iverson below McGrady. Anyway, that's good.

Defense, by a hair, KG took longer to turn into a defensive monster. Consider them tied if you want. I don't care. I flipped Kidd and Iverson for the same reason.

Surprised that Dirk is above Kobe, Shaq, and Lebron. Nice list.

Iverson so low? I pretty much agree with the players on top, but not the order. It'll be :

1) Kobe
2) KG
3) TD

for me. Also, Shaq should be above Dirk. And Paul Pierce is missing from the list. :?

I'd say Nash is also missing, considering he won back to back MVPs during the past decade. But I'm glad that he's not included.

I'm not surprised with the number one, but I dunno, I think 2 and 3 should have been switched

Why would anyone want to argue about Timmy being on top. He pretty much was the top player throughout whole decade both during seasons and playoffs. Not to discredit teammates Tim Duncan had, but without him, they wouldn't have been anywhere near what they achieved. Besides, he's always been rock solid on a team that was always contending year after year. For that alone, I think he deserves it more than KG.

I couldn't agree more, for me TD is the pinacle. He had good support around him for the spurs title runs this decade, but he was (and still is) the focal point for that team.
