Overtime bug?

Postby marco on Sun Dec 28, 2003 10:14 pm

Does it happens to you, that when a game is forced to overtime, don't matter how minute you play your quarters, the overtime will be anyway of 5 mins? I play 6 mins quarters and in others editions of Live the overtime was half, 3 mins. Is there a way to fix it?

Technically, it's not a bug. Overtime periods in the NBA are always five minutes. It would make sense if it was adjusted for shorter quarters, but it's not a bug.

For me, if it's not a bug it's a thing that has no sense. If i play 6 mins quarter why should i play 5 mins in overtime, that means to play almost another quarter? In the past editions of Live the overtime was half of the minutes you set in a quarter (e.g. 6 mins quarter, 3 mins overtime).

That's my point - it's an oversight, not a bug.

But do you guys experienced playing overtime...then after the game when you check on matchup review - it will not indicate that you have played that game with OT...

Again, that's an oversight, not a bug. But I'd like to see that too. Small touches like that are always nice.

The best would be if you could see a days games stats like you see them on espn.go.com... I mean you would have a list of boxes that had game information in them. The team names, scores by quarter, that little arrow pointing at the winning team, player leaders for both teams on scoring, rebounding and assists. Then you would have a link that would bring up a box score so you could see how all the guys played. That would be so cool. This was pretty much implemented in NHL 2003, but it's gone now.

It would also make the game seem more real if you would see the game stats in a form like you see them in real life. Checking into nba.com or espn etc. That would really make a difference in the atmosphere.

Recaps and such would be nice, but not neccesary and would require a lot of work... And won't be seen in the near future atleast.

I would really like to see a more realistic presentation of games and their statistics. I'd really like to be able to see the box scores from all the games...

It's not even an oversight, as Andrew suggested. I'd say quite simply it's a design decision. The "half the quarter length" is just as arbitrary, IMO. Heck, in the NBA they have 12 min q's but 5 min OT, not half the q length.

I agree, oversight was the wrong word to use in this instance; design decision is the best way of describing it. :)
