Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

I have a 3850 and I run on maximum. In order to do that, you need a double core cpu if you want the jerseys to move. So, a 3850 will get him running the game, but not on maximum with that "intel 4." He could probably put most things at ultra high, but he can't put players at ultra high.

Darn! This sucks! I downloadedd the demo some time ago and for some reason the full game won't work! I thought the whole point of a demo was that you could play the full version if the demo worked! Wholey crud! I just need .4 ghz! Does anyone know how to get steam to let it go?
Tue Aug 18, 2009 6:37 am
thnx pdub!
what do you think, will 2k10 have similar system req?
Tue Aug 18, 2009 10:23 am
I recall reading that 2K10 would run better on lower range systems, but yes similar system requirements.
Wed Aug 19, 2009 1:28 am
pdub, what about ram? he has 1 gb, he's thinking of doubling it, but will it have an effect?
Wed Aug 19, 2009 8:02 am
Sure. More ram is always better, but ram doesn't usually improve performance much by itself.
Wed Aug 19, 2009 8:25 am
Pdub, I still need halp with my question.
Wed Aug 19, 2009 10:45 am
I don't know. Steam shouldn't completely stop you from running a game just because your cpu has a little less mhz.
Fri Aug 21, 2009 4:08 am
ahm how about ATI Radeon X1200???
Fri Aug 21, 2009 1:15 pm
I'm getting a new PC, @ about how many fps can it run NBA2K9
specs are
(2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5850, 4GB RAM, 500GB Hard Drive, NVIDIA GEFORCE 9300 MGSHD GRAPHICS)
Tue Aug 25, 2009 11:44 pm
You cant. Everything is good except for the ghZ. You need 2.8 ghZ! Same problem as me.
Wed Aug 26, 2009 1:13 am
actually, i already got it and i run it pretty well, but the highest i can run it with playable fps are 800X600(with no MSAA) or 640X480(with X2 MSAA)
low crowd, mid sideline and max palyer(the animated jersey does it for me<nomo>) and the tex low

Just some info:
Pdub: my friend upgraded he's pc to hd3650, 2gb ram (2,66 ghz, single core) and he can't run the game as high as hoped (all high, player detail also high, not very high), in fact he told that the game isn't even fluent with the minimum settings

but it know it shows more than just black screen!

So everybody with similar pc's would know, it can run it, but at minimum settings with some lag here and there.
thnx for support!

I have a 3850 and a dual core 2.66 with 3 gb of ram. The 3850 can run games twice as fast as the 3650, especially if his 3650 is a 128-bit instead of a 256-bit. He can't run very high player detail without a second core, which was known since the game was released. The cloth animations need that extra thread. If he can't get the game running well on minimum, then his system isn't optimized for running games, or he has his eye candy cranked up in his video card control panel.

This I will have at home in few days:
Phenom II X2 3.1 Ghz
2GB DDR3 1333
HD4870 1024
Will it work with ULTRA HIGH player details?
Fri Sep 04, 2009 6:32 am
No, you won't even crack minimum settings. Ya see, 2K9/2K10 actually looks better than real life.
Fri Sep 04, 2009 10:48 am
I hate the way some people act in these threads...
My specs:
Intel NASA 48 Core 9.5 GhZ
36 GB DDR6 4077
19 TB HDD
VGA: Picasso's retina
Cooling: Superman's ice breath
CAN I RUN THIS GAME??!??
Fri Sep 04, 2009 10:14 pm
If you are talking about my post, then you misunderstood me. Right now I have light years old PC and I don't know a thing about hardware in present days. I stopped following PC hardware when Geforce 4 came out.
PS. I didn't even check system requirements for 2k9.
Sorry again, I'm not like that

I wasn't aiming it specifically at you, there's definitely been a fair few in this thread.

PDUB. my bad, he got and hd 3850. i typed it incorrectly..not an 3650, but a 3850. it's seems that the problem is in the single core. i have no doubts in that vid.card.
"then his system isn't optimized for running games, or he has his eye candy cranked up in his video card control panel." - What does this mean, is there anything he can do to speed it up?
thnx mate!

Get a dual core and he should be fine.

Intel Pentium Dual PC E2220 @ 2.40 GHz
32 bit
1790 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7100
Yeah and it fails to run.
EDIT:It works now. Thanks for trying to help anyways.
Wed Sep 23, 2009 1:48 am
so will a higher processor improve the way the game looks? or it depends on other components?
