Not really. Triple H trained under Killer Kowalski but that was a long time ago. Rudy Hatfield's time with Kowalski was just recently. They trained under the same guy but not at the same time.

I remember that All-Filipino Championship. It was the time that Hatfield made a Triple H-like act.

This year's roster is bland compared to last year's. Still, the 1998 team was the best in recent memory.

Eurobasket 2009

Postby hova- on Tue Sep 08, 2009 8:45 pm

Dont know if anybody is following since we have a huge amount of US and Aussies here. The Eurobasket 2009 in Poland has started yesterday.

Although some very good players from the NBA have declared not to participate or are injured (Dirk, Kirilenko, Kaman, Pietrus, Calderon, Rodriguez, Nesterovic, Deng, Gordon, Peja, Darko, Okur) and some other stars of the Euroleague aren't in there either (Papaloukas, Jasikevicius, Diamantidis, Holden, Macijauskas) this will be an interesting tournament.

Spain lost it's first game against Serbia surprisingly. France (with Parker, Batum, Turiaf, Diaw) won the first game against a Dirk and Kaman-less Germany.

Just eager to see if some guys are following ;)

Yeah, I'm following. Lost some money yesterday because I included that Spain-Serbia match in one of my bets.

There is already thread about it: LINK

On the topic, I'm following it too. Actually I will go to Poland and watch the Qualifying Round the end of this week/next week. Also another small surprise was today that Germany beat Russia, although both were without their biggest stars.

Of course I'm following - I'm from Poland. Today I'm going to Gdansk ( I live close to that city) to see Russia - France and Germany- Latvia.
I'm watching all games that are in TV, and of course supporting Poland. Poland has won against Bulgaria and Lithuania, today we are playing against Turkey and that game will decide who will finish the group at the first place. Both teams has already qualifyied to the next round. Poland has really great team this year, we have players like Marcin Gortat (Orlando Magic), Maciej Lampe ( Maccabi Tel - Aviv , played in NBA earlier) , David Logan (Asseco Prokom Gdynia , 3rd scorer of the Euroleague) Michal Ignerski (played in San Sebastian (Spanish Legue) last year). For sure It's the best roster that we could have. I'm looking forward to qualify to the TOP 6 and play in World Championships next year. I really don't know why Poland has so weak position in FIBA World Ranking, I'm sure that we are better team than Japan, Hong Kong, Gabon and some other 50 teams that are above us

I'm really routing for France. They have Diaw, Batum and Turiaf on the roster, not to mention Parker.
Also Latvia, but from the looks of things they don't have chance to advance.

Next round of Eurobasket 09 starts tomorrow . There are 2 groups 6 teams each. 4 best teams from each group advance . One team plays 3 games in that round ( only with opponents that the team haven't played against in previous round. Points that one team earned in previous round still count in this round ( It complicates things really much)
Group E : Greece (4pts) France (4pts) Croatia (3 pts) Germany (3pts) Russia (2 pts) F.Y.R of Macedonia (2 pts)
Group F : Turkey (4pts) Slovenia (3pts) Serbia (3 pts) Spain (3pts) Poland (3pts) Lithuania (2pts)
Group E plays tomorrow in Bydgoszcz ( North-western Poland)
Group F plays day after tomorrow in Lodz ( Middle/South Poland)
In my opinion teams that will qualify to to World Championships will be : Greece ,France, Serbia, Spain, Slovenia, Poland (Turkey is hosting the championships next year so I didn't take them into account)

The quarter-finals are beginnings with France-Spain match-up. This should have been the Final. I hope France will win. Spain has been playing quite poorly.

In China, our leagues is the world of the foreign aid!

I hope Chinese players can do better!

If they try their best to improve them, not depend on others! They will grow up quickly!

And the future of Chinense Basketball Team is bright!Do u agree?

However,I think some players in our leagues are not bad!Such as Zhu Fangyu, Mengke Bateer (had worked on Denver Nuggets, and got a champion ring on Spurs)

The guy was screaming profanities the whole game. I found it funny that he just curled up when the player approached him.

1. that shouldn't have been a flagrant foul.

2. And this goes for the Palace brawl, too. The fan had obviously paid for his ticket, he should expect some degree of safety. The security guys did well to prevent anything worse from happening, BUT since the guy paid for his ticket, and the player receives some fraction of that payment as his salary, ergo, the fan is his boss. You attack your boss, you get fired, and likely charged. That guy shouldn't play again.

3. And it's this point that gives me the greatest indignation. Why the cock is the team named after the sponsor?

They actually own the team. They're not just sponsors. Hence the goofy names. We've had Chunkee Giants (to promote Purefood's Chunkee Corned Beef), Tender Juicy Hotdogs (I know right), Milkmen (ooh scary), Beermen, Phone Pals, Realtors among others. At least some of them have changed to better (although rather cheesy) team names like the MIlkmen became the Aces.

That's always kind of bugged me about the NBL as well.
