Stephen Jackson wants out of Golden State

Golden State Warriors forward Stephen Jackson told Dime Magazine on Friday that he wants to be traded. His preferred destination: "Either Cleveland, anywhere in Texas or out here with Al [Harrington] in New York."

Jackson, who received a three-year contract extension from the Warriors last season, said the team knows of his wish to leave. He evidently doesn't think Golden State is close enough to becoming a contender.

"I really can’t get too much into it right now, but I’m just looking to go somewhere where I can go and win a championship," Jackson said.

Strange that he'd put New York on his short list of preferred teams if winning a championship is one of his goals. I suppose that one has more to do with a friendship with Al Harrington but still, it stands out from the other destinations he mentioned.

he possibly couldn't go in L.A. (ron artest?). and may not end up in Boston (they've got Daniels) and also in Orlando (they've got Barnes) and Cleveland (Graham and Moon)... so the last championship caliber team i could think of is Denver (he could start at SG)

Breaking Story No. 1: On Friday morning, I spoke with a source very close to the Golden State front office who tells me that Nellie is leading serious in-house conversation about proposing a trade to the Mavs that would move a rotation-caliber player from Golden State to Dallas in exchange for cap relief.
Breaking Story No. 2: On Friday evening, Dime magazine visited with the Warriors’ Stephen Jackson, who suggested rather matter-of-factly that Golden State management is aware of his desire “to go somewhere where I can go and win a championship. … either Cleveland, anywhere in Texas or out here … in New York.’’

Nellie is a fan of Stephen Jackson, who has reined in his behavior under the coach and become a team captain and a 20-ppg guy who is enough of an assist man to be Nellie's "point forward'' and is also a defensive pest.

The player I’m told Nellie would like to move is guard Monta Ellis. Ellis and Nellie have locked horns numerous times, he’s part of a backcourt overflow (the coach is in love with rookie Stephen Curry) and his contract is, like Jackson’s, a bloated one.
Talent-wise – and forgetting the dollars involved – I can envision both Ellis and Jackson fitting into the front of Dallas’ rotation. Ellis is a waterbug; Jackson is a bad-ass. There are reasons Dallas' roster could use either of those traits.

Shame Dallas traded Stack to Memphis, his contract would've been handy in such a deal with the Warriors.

This Dallas team would be so stacked then. And I see Jackson being way better when he does not need to bring the ball up the court. If I remember correctly he was the leader in TOs and among best in bad passes last season.

For players 12.5% or greater of minutes, 9th in turnovers, 8th in total bad passes and 14th in total ballhandling turnovers. 40th in bad pass percentage.

RealGM wrote, that Nelson wants more playing time for Curry and will possibly be pushing for a trade involving Ellis as well. Jackson + Ellis for Dallas' expiring contracts will make the Mavs way too stacked. (Gooden, Nowitzki, Marion, Howard, Kidd, Terry, Dampier, Ellis, Jackson, Tim Thomas, Barea)

Perhaps, but they should be fun to watch. An interesting experiment if nothing else.

Dallas could try to get Quentin Richardson to improve their trade chances.

I hope that happens and we have another team that can scare Lakers in the playoffs. Healthy and not troubled Jackson + Ellis I think are a better backcourt than Kidd + Terry for some reasons.

They'd be a bigger backcourt if nothing else but likely a lot more volatile.
