So It Took Me A While....

....But I've finally made it to 5k posts after speeding through the first 3 or 4 k. Pretty inactive poster in general, so this 5k took especially long. These threads are usually the type of things that are sentimental and filled with shout outs to other posters which in turn becomes a massive high-five fest of sorts, but I figure I shouldn't do it this time around. I mean, for the most part I haven't really done anything spectacular over the course of my NLSC "posting career" so I guess that even if I did give shout outs to a bunch of people they'd probably just sit in front of their monitor with a baffled " " look and wonder who on earth I am.

Well anyway, to make this not a part of the milestone thread, I guess I should give a bit of a biography of sorts...

Well, back in '03-'04 (Oh I feel so old school!),when .org was still a fairly active site and was run by David (I remember he was a pretty cool dude.... He was a big Smashing Pumpkins fan if I recall, which is a band I utterly loathe), I was vigorously searching through the interwebz to update my "chinese-version" of Live '04. The '04 season was filled with a lot of trades if I remember correctly, and the Raptors also pulled off a huge one involving Davis, JYD for Rose and Marshall, so the first stop I took a look at was nbalive.org.

So yeah, I went on this huge NLSC boycott for a while, thinking that Andrew's roster were garbage and would only download Benji's rosters and post exclusively at .org. Now .org had this huge ass beef with NLSC at the time for some reason at the time so I pretty much went along with it. It's pretty funny now that I look back on it, because it was my freshman year at highschool (a common place where rival groups are formed that hate each other for no reason) and I played right into the cliche of just trying to fit in and started bashing NLSC for no reason at all. I do remember I had a few squabbles with Jae or something in that forum too, although I don't remember what exactly happened.

I was mostly a dynasty-er at the time (and I still am, I guess considering the majority of my posts are from there), but I realized that a lot of people never really commented on them over at .org. I took a peek at the NLSC dynasty section and realized how much more heavily populated and how there were so many amazing dynasties back in that day.

I remember at the time Micchy Boy, Cocobee and BhzMafia (?)'s dynasties were the absolute best ones out there that no one could top. Even though they were mostly just walls of text with the occasional .jpg image in them, they were absolutely revolutionary at the time and a blast to read (this was a HUGE contrast to all of those "chapter" dynasties you see today). Looking at my first Raptors dynasty and thinking it was a great piece of work that needed to be seen by all (it was actually a very terrible dynasty, by the way), I decided to venture over to the NLSC, the place I loathed for no reason because I was told to.

Let's look at my very first post, shall we?

Magic are right in the thick of the playoff race, and then they just change coaches. Brilliant timing.

Uhhh yeah. I was brimming with teenage angst at the time. I remember trying so hard to be e-cool and sound sarcastic and hateful in every post I made, although you can't really see it with the above post.

Years and posts went by and I've seen some interesting stuff like CoolMac's storied tenure, the "Pinoy Rebellion" and "The Syndicate" (which to this day I still have no clue what it was about), Nick's drunken essay that actually made me laugh out loud for one of the few times ever just by reading and a whole bunch of other shite. Like I said earlier, I never really have been an important member of the community, nor do I claim to be (it seemed to go along just fine when I was away for months, lol), I kind of just go through the motions like any other average poster and speak my mind once in a while as I update my dynasty every now and then.

So yeah... If you were expecting some sort of lavish celebration of my 5k posts filled with magical unicorns and shit then I have to say you're in for a major disappointment (I lulz at those who actually read this entire post). Pretty much a big 'ol post about nothing. I don't think I really need to give shout-outs, if you kind of know who I am then I guess you know you're probably deserving of one. Unless you know me and I hate your guts. Then you can go to hell. You probably know who you are too.

And yes, I did have all the time in the world to write this on a Saturday night.

I do seem to remember you being one of the newbies that was a bit anti-NLSC when you first started posting here. All water under the bridge now and there was a lot of silliness going on in those days over matters that seem quite trivial looking back on it, but at the time it always struck me as being a little odd when people who claimed to hate the place posted here. Like watching Shallow Hal just to pick it apart, though hopefully we never have nor will sink to that depth.

In any case, congrats on the 5000! I don't really remember your early Dynasty threads but you're doing a fine job with your current Raptors one. I know you're trying to avoid sentiment in this particular milestone thread, but in all honesty as good as it is to have regulars who are making good posts every day, I'm always appreciative of the guys who don't post as much but have been around for a few years and make good contributions when they do stop by. No rule-breaking, no dramas, you simply share interests with other people in the Forum and that's what you come here to talk about. It's making good use of the Forum and it makes the task of moderating easier, so thank you and kudos.

I remember you posting in my dynasties everynow and then and I always wondered about your location (under a rock in Canada) and your name (I mean the asdf part which everybody knows is just silly typing in a row on your keyboard) which kind of attracted my attention more than on some other members I know in this forum. Not that I thought about you all day .. but by looking at your Avatar/name/location I actually gave it a thought .. which I dont do usually. Kind of strange I guess.

You know I didn't even remember that I disliked you until you mentioned it then, probably because I saw you as the freshman ass-kissing follower that you say you were but over the last couple of years (I'm guessing, I have no perception of time any more it seems) I've grown to like you, you'd be in my top 10 if I had to do a top 10 current posters... to be honest you'd be close to top 5 right now but I think we both know that's probably got more to do with the fact that this website is now the intellectual property of the Philippines. Well done on the 5K, and nice to see a decent milestone thread finally.

The dotorg days were crazy, and I think one of the main reasons I ended up switching to nlsc too was for its robust dynasty section. Here's to another 5K

Guillaume, I vaguely remember that night. It was literally my first time drinking I believe. I don't remember exactly what I typed, but I vaguely remember me raving about Channing Frye in the NBA section. Funny how it works out that way considering Frye is one of the players in my current dynasty that's tearing up opposing centers for my team.

And as for the Joey Graham comment by The X... He hasn't even caught on to a team yet, unfortunately. Although he's grossly underachieved, I've grown to somewhat like Graham despite the bad rep he has with Raps fans. He rekindled his aggressive motor from college last season and even though he's pretty inconsistent because of his poor ballhandling, I think he can be a really fine energy player off the bench.

Oh, and I HAVE watched Airplane! Ben. Only 1/2 of it though.

Well I've come back like a few months ago after a fairly long hiatus and now I just post here on occasion. Haven't really done much outside of moving into my new house for school and all that but yeah I've been peachy.
