Looks great, and not over exaggerated, either. The action looks "Live" again for the first time in a few years. It looks like I can do what I want with the controller and the game will respond accordingly.

One of the first things I might do when I pick up the game is turn off a few rules and get used to the new passing controls.

I noticed that a gray icon shows up below the defensive player when the ballhandler's arrow is pointing in their direction or towards their offensive assignment. Is that a function to help the defender guess where a pass might be going?

The only part I didn't like was the Derrick Rose to Tyrus Thomas alley-oop. When Rose clears the screen, he's wide open for a mid-range jumper for a few seconds, but stands there waiting for Chalmers to catch up, then throws a lob to Thomas in the congested lane. I know the purpose of the video is to show off the passing, but realistically, if I'm playing, I'm pulling the trigger with Rose.

Bryant's dish to Gasol, and James kicking to West looked very good, though.

That's a big different between Past Lives of the last gen and 2k (even to this day). It was about the playmaking abilities and all around ability to control, especially with little time left, you can execute properly.

This video really shows how great the gameplay looks and flows this year. I somehow get even more excited then I already am everytime I see a new video, this is gonna be a great game!

This is the first time Live has ever had freestyle passing using the right stick. You are thinking of Freestyle Superstar Playmakers.

I suppose I should reserve final judgement for hands-on impressions, but that video has made me a fan of Freestyle Passing. The passes themselves looked pretty slick and it's nice to see a few fancy ones in the game that we can trigger. Rapid passing was a weak area in NBA Live 09 as well and this certainly looks like it'll help out with drive-and-dish situations as well as dribble hand-offs. Definitely a good sign.

Kobe-to-Gasol was my favourite clip, both the pass and the dunk looked great. We see that play a fair bit in the NBA and it's been difficult to pull off in Live because of the delay on passing. I'm also a big fan of good looking "simple" dunks in basketball video games, which is why I really liked the finish by Gasol as well.

I'm sorry but what part of that did you guys enjoy exactly?? Alley-oops in traffic, random behind the back passes in situations that you'd barely ever, if ever, see them. NBA Jam 10 is looking good. The only bit that I was impressed with was Z getting knocked over, I thought that was cool.

I didn't think the behind-the-back passes were all that out there (especially Kobe-to-Gasol), though granted if they're triggered too often it would be a bit disconcerting. The alley-oop in traffic wasn't that bad in my opinion, it should be possible so long as the player has a clear path to the basket or can go straight up at the hoop for the finish. Not to make excuses, but videos like this can often suggest that these things will happen all the time and at the drop of a hat because they're meant to be showing off one feature or another, so I guess I'm taking the video with a grain of salt.

The behind-the-back passes look awesome. Hopefully they don't happen too much, because that could become a major concern.

Presumably they'll be contextual to a certain extent.

That's essentially my problem in the first place. All bar maybe one of those happened in bizarre and unnecessary contexts. If I remember, when I get into my off-peak time I'll reload it and detail this more.

Fair enough. At the moment I'm still giving the video the benefit of the doubt since it was obviously made to highlight those passes. If the game was on Rookie difficulty to facilitate the creation of that video, chances are we're not seeing as many risky passes being picked off since the risk/reward factor wouldn't be particularly realistic. In just under two weeks, we'll be able to see for ourselves of course.

I trade you your 1000 kicks and 500 tattoos for 9000 new animations and the ability to recolor the existing shoes as you wish. Nevermind PC version which negates any number of textures you throw at me.

Anyway, I'd prefer a 2 court team themed practice facility with 4 TVs and coaches walking around with the ability to shoot around with any player in the game with the rest of the team than a 1 court Airplane Hangar being limited to specific "elite" players on the court.

I love how you always call 2k10 a roster update for 2k9. Are you still forgetting about My Player? A full Association mode with D-League? What about the NBA Today starting screen and the 82games/Living Rosters integration which together comes close to equaling Live's DNA?

I don't care that you side with NBA Live, I've been on the boat since 2000. What I can't stand is that you are so uninformed, so ignorant, it just amazes me. Tell me, what Live's have you played? How much have you played them? Have you touched 2k at all? What is your experience that allows you to call 2k10 a roster update?

None, because i am fan of a Live production. I was sure that Live will be live again. Result is here- nba live 10.
Of course 2k-s gameplay was magnificent compared to live 09. And players looked like toothpicks.
But if 2k won't change something drastically then it will be looser. We aint sure about those extra new modes. They are "half assed". They will be good in 2-3 years to come. Of course i haven't seen nothing about 2k, but i think that's the way it is. If not,silly me.

The Live players were criticized as being toothpicks, 2k's received criticism in the past for having them be too bulky.

Why does 2k need to change something drastically? Especially since 2k7, 2k8, and 2k9 we all really good basketball games. You need to realize, because you haven't touched any of the games, that 2k has really good gameplay and presentation and has had that for years now. They can spend the time creating new off the court modes because their gameplay changes from year to year depend more on little tweaks than a new freestyle (blank) that gets phased out the next year.

If you don't know anything about 2k, then how do you know those modes are half assed? You don't know anything about My Player, the Draft Combine, or 2k's Association mode. I could defend these, but I don't need to because I wouldn't be defending them to you, I'd be explaining to you what they are because you know nothing about the competition! Seriously, you need to know something about what you are bad mouthing before you talk shit. There are plenty of reasons to dislike 2k and like Live. For me personally it was Live's controls, but this year they fucked it all up which is why I have 0 hype for this game and am focusing on 2k10 and my Live PC efforts right now. I do hope their demo turns me around on the new controls, but I have serious doubts.
