Cavalier roster...How far can this team go?

Postby Cleveland wins on Sat Aug 15, 2009 11:46 pm

I like how this franchise has a nice mixture of veterans and young players, they have a one year pro from north carolina and a rookie from north carolina. I forgot who they are, so i guess they're reunited like Ben Gordon and Charlie Villaneuava. They're centers are veterans and their power forwards are young players, Varajeo maybe getting into his prime.

I love the cavaliers small forwards, and they're all young players. Lebron james, Jamero Moon and Jawad Williams. This is my favorite team and my former home city that i grew up in, but i don't think they'll get to the nba finals for some reason, I think the main two teams that stand in their way are the celtics and the magic, in my opinion, the celtics are still the team to beat.

If boston had a healthy Garnett in the conference finals last season, they would have been playing the lakers in the nba finals. But i do think that cleveland's bigs are better than boston's bigs. I think shaq can dominate Rasheed Wallace, at least stopping Wallace in the post, but i don't think shaq can stop Rasheed's three point shooting.

It'll be an interesting matchup between Varajeo and Sheldon williams, to players who can play the four and the five. I think Cleveland and boston will play each other in their first game of the season like they did last season. And if you remember when they played the first time last season, cleveland had a blowout lead in the first half, and they were running and gunning, then Paul pierce and Ray allen got hot and boston came back and won.

I'll never forget that game, I'd love to see a celtic/cav eastern conference finals, and i'd love to see shaq gaurding garnett, that would be a tremendous matchup. I think though that cleveland still needs a bigger power forward who can play defense, and i think Powe was a good addition, ever since the playoffs where the celtics were in the eastern conference finals, i lovee powe.

Where does everyone get this notion that Jamario Moon is young? He's 29 years old.

I think they overlook the fact that he came into the league as a 27 year old rookie.

I think shaq's a lil old. I think celtics or magic will go to the finals when it comes to Eastern conference.

No, it won't. If Williams plays more than fifteen total playoff minutes I'll be surprised.

I think they can and will win the title next year. They replaced Wallyworld, Joe Smith and Ben Wallace's corpse with Shaq, Anthony Parker and Leon Powe. Ben calculates a slight regression but I personally think this team is even better than last year's. Not to mention there is a good chance they won't run into Orlando should they get the #1 seed again.

I too think the team is much better than last year. They're already at the high end of point differential and I didn't have Powe there, but they only calculated to be one game worse on the pythag and still above both Orlando and the Lakers. I also had LeBron only playing 37 minutes or something, any close game he can obvious go the distance so that would swing a couple games to get them back to 66-16.

I can see them winning fewer games than last year as they adjust to all the new players, find the roles and rotation. But still be the favorite and be much better in the playoffs. Look at Miami in Shaq's first two years there, the title team was a lot better and deeper but won fewer regular season games.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that he's 29 because he could really use some polish in his game. He would be such a promising player if he had the basketball I.Q. to back up his athleticism.

I think they're capable of winning it all, though I think the Lakers have earned "favourite" status owing to the fact that they will be the defending champions and their rather successful offseason.

I disagree. I haven't seen any evidence that Artest will sacrifice for his team. Nor that Kobe will care as much now that he's achieved his goal.

Cavs were favorites half way through last year, and they're favorites this year for the same reason the Bulls were always favorites. Best player, depth that should be illegal.

It's easy, they will play eastern confernce finals with Magic. Young Howard will dominate old Shaq. Vince has more experiences than Lebron. Vince will be clutch player in last seconds of game. Those 4 players decide the series. No more talk needed. Easy, simple and logic. :)

It probably makes some sense only to you, just like every other post by you. If that's how you analyze a series...

Oh, and where is your logic btw?

Lebron is more 'clutch' than carter if that's what you're basing the series on. Also remember a lot of Dwight's help from the playoffs this year is no longer there...I'm not saying Orlando wont be there again...but It wouldnt seem likely.

Has Vince Carter even had any playoff sucess? Lebron has been to the Finals, A couple conference finals, and has Shaq who knows what it takes to win in the postseason. I think part of the Jamario Moon aquasition was to guard a guy like Rashard Lewis when Lebron is on the bench or if Lebron has to guard Carter.

Roster wise, I think Cavaliers sure does have it all. Experience, depth, and 1-2 punches. Too bad Wade lost Moon to Bron, but it's a good pick up for Cavaliers for sure.

It definitely would have been more interesting if Cavaliers had this roster in ECF this year. I don't think Dwight would have toyed the paint like he did if Shaq was there, but who knows chemistry is always the key.

i think the cavs will win it all if they don't have any chemistry problems. I don't think they will but they have added alot of players and it is posiible they won't all get along.

cavs can win the title but its gonna be tough
Lets start off with the magic
dwight might have a tough time in the paint with shaq but magic have shooters.More shooters than cavs. Mickael Pietrus can contain Lebron . and with the addition of Vince Carter , i think magic can go more further than the cavs. lebron can carry his team but is gonna have a tough time.Shaq is old,Big Z's getting old, gibson is inconsistent..................Magic in 6
On to the Celtics
Celtics lost Kevin Garnett due to an injury and that makes there defense out of sync. Lebron cannot guard pierce.if u can hit the mid-range game, lebron cant guard u.Again, Lebron can carry his team and has to go through the TOUGH celtic defense.Garnett can stop Varejao and shaq in the post. maybe Shaq might own rasheed in the post the celtics will have to send the double team and shaq will kick it out for an open shooter.both teams can go far. its a tough match-up.......... Celtics in 7
Now to The Lakers
Lakers signed ron artest and lamar odom in the offseason.I dont think no one can stop the lakers. Lebron or Shaq vs Kobe, i gotta give it to kobe. Lakers defense will improve dramtically because they have artest, kobe, inside presence. though shaq is stronger than gasol and bynum, shaq might score(not all the time).Kobe will carry his team to another title.(maybe not carry because he has a really good team)
Lakers in 4 or 5

Cavs cannot go that far. maybe there chemistry might lack. they can go the the EC semifinals and get eliminated by celtics or magic
if not maybe they can stop in the ECF and get eliminated there

RANKS:
1. Lakers
2. Celtics
3. Magic
4. Cavaliers
