What he didn't tell you is that illini lost his legs during a CIA mission he undertook in Ethiopia. The other stuff is just a cover story.
I always told him he wired too much C4. But no, he always wanted the biggest boom he could get.
I'm still surprised we made it out of there alive. Racing through those streets as illini, bleeding out, fired at the terrorist thugs chasing us, trying to get to our escape plane.

I assume it was after what happened then that benji started to drown himself in statistics to compensate for the guilt of fucking up the mission's logistics which resulted in the loss of their other comrades, which is also the cause of illini wanting to have a bigger boom to make it up for their dead team.

They killed themselves when they went barreling in on day one blowing our cover. It was up to us to try and salvage the entire mission.
We spent months developing those cover IDs.
Months.

Keep telling yourself that it was their fault, accept the fact that you screwed the logistics that's why your team underestimated the enemy, went gung-ho and got themselves killed.
Accept what happened to free yourself from the burden of your guilt so you and illini can finally watch the games in enjoyment like the entire team intended to do after that tour of duty.

You think I don't think about that every night! There's a reason I have to turn to the bottle before I turn to bed.
They were rookies...just rookies...but they said they were prepared. They said they were ready. Management signed off. This would be easy in, easy out. I knew I had to be looking out, illini had to be looking out. But they were headstrong, they were too eager. These guys were bad, and they were going to make them pay.
I have to drink, it's the only way.
I still hear illini screaming and despite the shell shock I see his leg under the rubble. He always kept his boots better kept than the rest of us. I stumble and grab for his leg and I get it and I pull to save my comrade.
And I have his leg, and he's still screaming somewhere else in the rubble.
That's why I drink.
That's why.

I am 18 years old will be starting college this Fall. I currently have no ambitions of what i want to be. Mainly because i dont want to be the obvious engineer, doctor and what not and i am not sure what all is out there that i may truly like. And also the fact i am a lazy fuck doesnt help but its not that bad. ill be working part time through college too.

Yes, deciding what you want to study in college is the most frustrating part of high school. Specially if your uncles are well-known engineers but you wanted to study Medicine.

Proposed to my girlfriend and she applies to graduate schools this fall. Then we either move or stay were we are depending on where she goes and once she's get done there, she works and I get to go back and get my Bachelors.
Freetime goes to games, basketball, tennis, working out or going out to places. A dull overall, but fun life.
shiiiit.
Moved, got married, had kids, still working towards my master's in a different field than engineering, wife is a semester away from her second master's, and then the current job & move.
Looking back, feeling bored at times is not the same as having a dull life.
