Finalists for the Timberwolves' coaching job

Kurt Rambis, Mark Jackson and Elston Turner. (Source)

Kahn has spent the past seven weeks meticulously interviewing candidates and has settled on Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis, ESPN analyst Mark Jackson and Houston assistant Elston Turner.

From the sounds of it, Kahn is looking to completely overhaul the roster (apparently one of the reasons McHale was ousted) in the near future so whoever ends up with the job probably won't be expected to work miracles. That said, they might not be around all that long since a couple of losing seasons are probably in the Timberwolves' immediate future and as we all know, the blade usually falls on the coach in those situations. With that in mind I'm not sure who the best candidate really is but I'm kind of hoping it's Mark Jackson...just so I don't have to hear him on ESPN anymore.

And just for fun, here's a quote from the comment section on the article:

Wake up Rambis - stay in LA. Minnesota is a Democrat lunatic liberal state (A Franken elected), gays run things, lots of donkey dick arabs. You would be better off taking a job in Cleveland (maybe not)

The Internet: Not just for braniacs anymore.

I can imagine Mark Jackson doing a great job in Minny.

"We're being outrebounded, we must rebound more."
"The opposing team has a greater score than us, we need to score more to win."
HE'S USING HYPNOSIS!

Games against the Lakers would be even uglier for the Timberwolves as I'm pretty sure he'd just stand there gushing over Kobe rather than trying to devise a way to slow him down or get the ball out of hands. I can see it now, the Lakers up by 40 and Mark Jackson on the sideline, turning to his players to remark with a smile "Kobe is the single greatest player in the league. Momma, there goes that man!" while the ESPN crew likewish gush over his coaching accumen while the players wish Kevin McHale was still with the club. Sure, it's not like they won a lot under him either but at least he's a legend in someone else's mind than his own.

Doesn't look like it will come to be however, as it looks like Rambis has the job. Good for him, but very disappointing for NBA on ESPN viewers.
