Very crappy stuff (not Lean's thread)

Does anyone know anything about After Effects? I've been trying to make a kinetic typography movie for over a week and just can't figure it out. I've watched all the tutorials (all both of them) but I'm still having a lot of trouble. I'd like to make this into something like this. If anyone could help, anything at all, that'd be greatly appreciated.


Also, I need some feedback on these two logos:





They're for a contest at 99designs. The contest holder requested a logo for his soccer team, the San Francisco Black Sox. He also requested the Sutro Tower be included in the logo, before you ask what's the white thingy in the middle. Any feedback is welcome.

EDIT: I guess I'll just make this my new PS thread. I'll be posting some stuff in the upcoming days...

Both the logos are great, but I prefer the second one.

And about the thing in After Effects, it seems like you have to compose a text structure as similar as that and set a Camera object and provide simple keyframes for simple camera panning.

The bridge looks like a crutch to me. Maybe you can add color to only the bridge or make it more recognizable as the bridge.

The logos are cool but my issue with the second one is that it's too fat. Like it looks squashed if that makes sense... if you elongated it/condensed it and kept the stars etc it'd look really cool.

Agreed on the fat part, I prefer the second one. Although, I think the ball doesn't fit the rest of the logo. The ball has shades and all, but the tower is all white, if you get where I'm coming from. Also, is it me or is the left side brighter than the right? Make the gradient centered.

the 2nd one is better than the first one, but it looks fat, just try to narrow it a little.

i agree with buzzy with the ball, either you add shades of gray on the tower and letters or remove the shades from the ball.

Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it. I'll try to work on the second logo and add shades to the rest of the elements, since I really like how the ball turned out. I would add a little color to it but the contest holder requested not to..

Also, Lean, I have no idea what you just said I'll look for "camera panning," though. Thanks a lot for the help

For some reason I'm really reminded of this:

Anything black and white always remind me of the Spurs.

I'm tempted to post an insanely obscene and grotesque black and white pic to see if it still reminds you of the Spurs. I'll let it pass for now...
