God that looked awful. Why do all the players look fat? It's like their faces are swollen or something. I'm not even bothered by the graphics (I'd still play Live 2000 if I had it) but the animations look shit regardless. Not impressed at all. Looks like my basketball game hiatus continues.

I thought the trailer looked great, considering the game is only 70% done. Pause at 0:06 and you can see that some fans are wearing Cleveland jerseys.

I love this "70%" crap that always gets thrown about. The game probably has about a ten month dev cycle, right? It comes out in early October, so it has to go gold in September sometime. Let's assume this comes from a build in around late June/early July. So it came...70% through the dev cycle, so it's "70% done." Many of the aspects we saw has to be close to finished, or they won't be able to meet their deadline.

All I'm saying is, don't get your hopes up.

At least it wasn't the good ol "it's only 90% done!" Yeah, you're going to rewrite your renderer instead of spending that last month squashing bugs, sure...

I hate to sound like a fanboy, but I thought it looked alright. I'm not too concerned about the player details, the WIP screenshots look fine to me. Certainly some concern with the collision detection, but as with all videos I'll reserve final judgment for hands-on experience. An early trailer doesn't concern me too much, even gameplay footage leaves some question marks but a demo can't gloss over things.

I think the trailer looks pretty good compared to other live games.

Man we either got some pure haters or just 2K9 lovers on here how in the heck do you down that trailer of course its not all the way done but come on comments like I'll play 2005 over that is crazy. Did 05 have put backs? No. Did 05 have the user being able to control the hand the player shoots the ball with? No. Did 05 or 2K have players falling after dunks and rolling on the ground for the ball? I think Not. So stop picking small things to tear the game down about and just admit that they are making Live more of a real game. Did you not see Lebron dunk on two defensive players at the same time, did you not see the intro's with Lebron throwing the dust in beginning, come on they are making the game real as possible. Stop the Hating. 2K is def not better if you be honest, some of you guys are just being negative, you haven't even seen 2K trailer yet and talking bout its better. Even the Hanger where it really feels like a training facility and you have 12 players to play a pickup game and you can really feel like your training for an upcoming season just like real players do when they get together to train before a upcoming season and have a pickup game. Give credit where it is do, does the trailer look like a finish product no, but they are def in the right direction.

Live 2005 had putbacks. 2K9 had players falling on the ground after well contested layups and getting dunked on and for loose balls and flopping when attempting to take a charge.

NBA Live has yet to be a polished, finished game on the xbox360, with Live 09 coming the closest. That's why we nitpick. Plus, deep down is some bitterness. I think some of us want Live to become the better game, the fun game it once was.

Absolutely, I know I do. I don't want to see 2K fail, though. I want both titles to deliver the goods and push each other further and further. That way we all win, no matter which brand we choose.

That's the crux of it for me. I loved Live 2000 and still remember the massive disappointment when Live 2001 was awful, in my opinion aside from one or two oddity years the game has been poor ever since. It doesn't cloud my judgment when I'm thinking about whether a player is wearing black or white socks is a big deal or not, but I do hold the game to a higher standard since it was once great and EA is a huge company.

2k9 was a better game, but it wasn't 2 million times better like people said it is. That was was flawed like hell, people just wanna talk shit

Save your judgements on live until the demo comes out. But I think the trailer looks fine, except that every dunk except for LeBron's looks weak. :?

I like it, you cant expect the game to be perfect. ive seen many real games where a point guard ends up guarding a big man. Im not the type of person to nit pick every single thing about a game, if its fun and easy to control I'll love it

Until we get the demo, there's only so much nitpicking we can fairly do. A clip comprising of a few seconds of gameplay footage here and there is probably going to include things out of context. If every play ended up with a defensive mismatch and the like, then it certainly would be a problem.
