Jakarta Bombings

The story, for those who are unware. This one is from the Australian perspective, but obviously Australians weren't the only ones amongst the victims.

The Times wrote:The shadow of terrorism fell across Indonesia again this morning when at least eight people, including some foreigners, were killed and at least 50 were injured in two large explosions at luxury hotels in Jakarta.

The near simultaneous explosions occurred at about 8am in the Ritz-Carlton and in the nearby JW Marriott, the hotel where 12 people were killed and 150 injured in a suicide bombing almost six years ago.

What can you say that hasn't been said before? The worldwide effort to not only hunt down but protect ourselves from terrorist threats surely has to have made some strides and we could point to the foiled bombing plot in London a few years back as proof of that, but then something like this happens and it reminds us that this scourage of humanity isn't going anywhere. I don't think we can ever truly defeat terrorists or the concept of terrorism anymore than we can prevent murder, theft and violence in general in society but hopefully we can continue to better arm ourselves against events like this.

Succinct and to the point. I couldn't agree more.

It's the terrorist's mentality, it's very unstoppable, and senseless too.

It's an extreme approach to an ugly side of human nature; at some level, we all want our way to be the way.

Exactly. And what's more annoying is that they are not open to any diplomatic negotiations and such.

Always thought they had a paranoia of being the victim in imperialism again... Correct me if I'm wrong

I don't know anything about that, but it doesn't really change the fact that there's no negotiating with them or that they're victimising others.
