New plan up for SHIT #2:

Same caricature tutorial, but made straight from a sketchpad. I plan to "ink" the sketch, and color it in Photoshop. Can't do some photograph theft now. I'm too exposed.

Plus I'm willing to accept local clients for graphic work. I badly need a sideline.

Nice to see that my little letters had an impact on you. :P

I cant wait for #2, but I'm deeply disappointed that the base photo wont be a stolen one this time. :( That kills all the thrills and excitement!

Plus I'm willing to accept local clients for graphic work. I badly need a sideline.

Economy is that bad? And you normally dont accept local clients? Only "international" ones? :cheeky: Maybe you should revert your custom title back to "I need money." again. I always thought that one was a classic.

Well, somebody PM'ed me asking me to work on a website layout, which I eventually turned down and passed onto Mikki -- since I have no PayPal account.

What I get in work isn't enough for me. I give to the family. *cue dramatic background music*

I normally get clients before, when the word "freelance" is misunderstood to be "free-work." After doing some designs for several years, "thank you" is their payment. :seriouscat: *cue much dramatic music*

This one is my personal favorite among my "freelance" work over the years. A logo for a coffee shop business of a former high-school classmate and it was like after a long trade of messages, suddenly made a segway of "asking for a favor" and voila, a coffee shop logo:

(made in 2007)

Only thing I asked for as a payment is proof that they've used that logo. After I sent the image, that classmate of mine replied "thanks" and never PM'ed me again.

Classmates.. They look at you as an angel that would do anything for you just because the two of you were once "classmates".

That kind of thing happens to me all the time, luckily money's not involved... yet.

I'm looking for work with regards to graphic design. For now I have to work "on my own" and hope that it works.

BUMP!

Alright, scrap the sketch idea. It's raining, I don't have a scanner, and the potential sketch might end up looking like paper mache.

Based on a screencap from "The Dark Knight," I'll try to turn this into a caricature-like image, complete with comic-style coloring and inking so expect a lot of Pen Tool strokes.

It's cool. Somehow I see rough strokes on it. Did you expand the selection on "M" and on "ODIFLY?"

No, I didn't expand it. If I had it couldn't have been much. At first it looks like this:

Then I applied "photocopy" filter on it and it became like so.

I made the "M" using pentool only and the "ODIFLY" using the type tool. I dont know why but the strokes are rough since the start.

Must be the 100x100 canvass size. Did you start at a high resolution?

Or maybe because of the antialiasing in his pen tool

I'm thinking that it's the anti-aliasing option too. The one that's there before I "make selection". How do I fix it? Simply uncheck the box?

Laboratory classes, Jom. They give me free time.

What I don't understand is that I have the colors bluish in Photoshop, but it turns grey once I post it here. Or is it just the LCD monitor.

Image

Now it got darker. :|

EDIT: Added the scratch marks that sketchers do in their drawings.

Nah, once I make up the tutorial, you'll find out how easy it is. The color adjustment is really hard though. There are only four layers in that image and I'm off to make more adjustments. The torso part seems to be dull.

The only reason why we'll find it easy once you make the tutorial is because your tutorial rocks. You're really good at explaining things. (Y)
