It's unfathomable to me that people don't worship Tim Duncan as a basketball God, let alone find him boring.

Agreed. If someone thinks that TD is boring, he's either a hater or doesn't know a thing about basketball, or maybe even both.

Having said that, I do think a true basketball fan can enjoy different styles of play and most any aspect of the game. I can appreciate how the Spurs play and I don't find it boring (aside from a while there when they were on all time on ESPN Australia and even then it was just the lack in variety) but I also like teams that play more up-tempo too.

I didn't want to make a new thread to ask just this, so I post my question here:

Why Bruce Bowen wanted to be traded?

He's 37 and so the Spurs kicked him out of the starting lineup and cut down on his minutes. He took this as disrespectful.

i know basketball, i've been watching the game since 81. i was 5 years old at that time.

to me, The Spurs are boring. they don't play an exciting style of basketball, as i said they are as exciting to watch as a girls basketball team... and i never said dunking had anything to do with winning championships. the lack of dunking is part of how boring the team is. as far as i am concerned, they had their time, their time is over. they are an aging team and are being overtaken by much more talented, much younger teams.

Im a Laker's fan, so the Spurs are always the enemy when it comes to the Western conference playoffs.
im a Lebron fan, so the Spurs spoiled my favorite player's first title shot in 2007

who said i gotta like a team because everyone else is on their nuts?
im sick and tired of watching them in the Finals.

Sweet jesus.

I don't think anyone is suggesting you get on anyones nuts, but "they suck because they don't dunk" is generally not the smartest argument to be throwing at people.

The Cavs are more boring to watch than the Spurs & when he's not getting dunked on, Lebron gets his fair share of dunks :|

agreed, if you appreciate basketball, you'll love to watch Duncan play, in fact, what's boring is that all the Cavs could do is give Lebron the ball, and all Lebron can do is muscle his way to the hole and flush it...incredibly boring to watch

god dammit, why do the Lakers have idiotic fans?

kingjames23 wrote:im a Lebron fan, so the Spurs spoiled my favorite player's first title shot in 2007

Lebron and the Cavaliers never had a chance at the title, they got swept and it was cause the Spurs were the better team, BY FAR

kingjames23 wrote:who said i gotta like a team because everyone else is on their nuts?

no one, you are the one who's saying that
we are just commenting on your retarded statement that they are not title contenders just cause they dont dunk a lot

kingjames23 wrote:im sick and tired of watching them in the Finals.

has it occurred to you that the reason why they have been in the finals is cause they are skilled? or are you too thick to figure that out?

The Cavs would have lost in the 07 Finals to any Western Conference playoff team except the Lakers and maybe the Nuggets or Warriors.

ok, you guys are officially missing the point.

i never said the team sucks, i never said they aren't championship caliber. i am saying that i hate the Spurs, and am sick of seeing them in the finals.

i said they are boring because their style of play is boring, a style in which a lack of dunking is just an EXAMPLE of how boring they are to watch.

facts = the Spurs are a great team, fundamentally sound (i NEVER said they weren't)
my feelings towards team = they have a boring style of play, and i am sick of them winning a title every other year.

i dont like any of the players, hate their personalities. especially Duncan. fucking robot. he's some kind of basketball cyborg . the only time he shows emotion is when a call doesnt go his way. his eyes bug out like he's shocked that someone breathed on him and it didnt get called. they all give off this vibe like they "deserve" to be champions every year, like everyone should just roll over for them. last time this team had personality, the Admiral played for them.

i never said they suck because they don't dunk, i said they are boring, part of which is that they don't dunk

how many times do i need to explain it now? you guys are such children here. i have to spell it out for you.

being a championship caliber team means that they are a team that is able to win the championship? by saying that that they won't, you have implied that they are not a championship caliber team :scold:  :applaud:

and all of us here have said that their style of play is not boring, and have pointed out the fact that those who appreciate and understand the game of basketball will find watching Spurs games are enjoyable experiences.

yes they are a championship caliber team. but there are several teams that are even better this year, the LAKERS will likely knock them out in the west finals, the MAGIC, CAVS, or most likely the CELTICS will finish them if they get to the nba final. all 4 of those teams have improved their rosters just as much, if not more so than the spurs have improved. had the spurs picked up Jefferson, but none of the other teams ive mentioned made the moves they did, sure, the spurs might have won it this year. nevertheless they are boring TO ME.

I enjoy watching Tim Duncan and his fundamentals, same with Jorge Garbajosa when he played with the Raptors. McDyess is a good replacement over Kurt Thomas.

Unless Manu stays healthy I dont see them winning the championship. The Lakers got better but who knows how Artest turns out.

I predict Lakers-Celtics with the Lakers winning again.

Thats a pretty immature reason to say they are boring. They play good defense and have a fluid offense. Just because they dont slam it down every possession doesnt mean they are boring. Unless you need a flashy slam to get you into the game.

I'd rather watch a team that executes a offense then watch a team that misses half there shots and gets a dunk every couple of possessions.

Gooden isn't coming back isn't he? I hope they can sign him though. The Spurs would have one of the deepest frontcourts in the league.

I wonder what will happen with Oberto, he didn't play much last season and he got traded but, still there are rumors saying the Spurs are interested in him.

Definitely. The Spurs already have 7 bigs. That hasn't happened in a while. Someone's gonna be delt later on. Probably Bonner.

I was under the impression that Wizards were going to sign him for the $1.9 million biannual exception
