Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

Hi Everyone,
I'm having problem with my roster.
Here's the scenario:
I edit the players.dbf (TEAM) using db commander so that some legends will be free agents.
Once i started the dynasty the hieghts of almost all the players are wrong. Like Olajuwon will be 6'7" or Yao Ming will be 6'3". Also the weight are wrong.
What did I do wrong? Please help.
thanks,
Tim Vincent

anyone knows how to solve this problem?
After editing players then running dynasty mode many of free agents have wrong heights and weights!

It usually means there's an inconsistency between players.dbf and appearance.dbf.

How is that possible? In players.dbf you can't edit player height

What I mean is, the IDs in players.dbf don't match up with IDs in appearance.dbf.

nope, all checks out. It's some kind of bug. For instance, Rondo can't get headband no matter what! (your roster patch)
very weird, all of weight/height mistakes are from players in Free Agents pool.

That's not the roster files. Because I don't have a face for Rondo specifically created for NBA Live 2005, I'm using 08 files. While they'll show up alright, without a working headband.ebo the headband won't show up even when it's been assigned.

This is Paul Millsap, 6' 2" PF, with black head and white body.
This is crazy, all values for him in appearance.dbf are correct, playerID is correct, aswell in players.dbf
Anyone know where is the bug hidding? So I can kill it

I suppose you have a custom CF for him, right? If so, my advice is as follows - delete this player from the roster, and create a new one with appropriate attributes, along with more darker skin. Simple.

No, I don't have custom CF for him! Color of his skin is set to 4 or 3 which is black! And height much more than 6-2 what is displayed after!
Can you please check if it displays same to you when you load my save file, so I can be sure whether my sgsm folder is problem! Free agents are issue. Thank you!

you have a weight problem because of playing dynasty mode too much
can't help with the height
you're welcome

Yes, it happens to me too, I haven't noticed that earlier, because as for now I'm not playing any basketball game (a little off-season break

) So I have to get back to original Andrew' roster, and do any trades and signings by myself.

Same problem here

bloody 'rosterpos' makes the problem! I'm so fed up with this shit
who ever wrote this piece of program is an idiot

I have to say I've never run into that problem when editing the rosters. ROSTERPOS is something that's easy to overlook though, it's best to make as many changes as you can from within the game and then go to DBF editing for whatever can't be modified in-game.

I've fixed it! Anyone who want to know how PM me
Tue Jul 21, 2009 10:43 am
Just out of interest, why not post that information for the general public? I've never run into that problem myself but it does strike me as the kind of thing people might search the Forum for, in which case I'm sure they'd be grateful for the resource.

I Agree with
Andrew. Don't be shrewd

, and share with us your achievement.

Forgive me, I was too excited of finally fixing it, that I post the message wrong way...
The wink! Since Andrew decided to lock that thread with rosters I updated from his, I can't post publicly roster fix (which is of course just a roster save again), so who initially downloaded that roster can PM so I can give him this one, which is only fix to that height/weight/appearance bug.
Conclusion is... when you notice in any roster update you make and there is this strange appearance bug (fi. players have white body and black head...) there is no coming back unless you have a backup. Then start all over again... But now, don't modify rosterpos through the dbf, do it from the game, also is best to do player transfers within the game, then edit certain ratings, etc with dbf edit.

Thanks, that helps a lot

That much I already knew, I certainly advocate editing as much as possible within the game before going to the DBFs. But thanks for sharing.
