I am a retro fan, your work is good, but it should be to create a team of at least 12 players and the best 15, and remove from the free agents that the players will not be repeated.
thanks.

This looks really good, obviously a lot of players missing, but they can be added.

The biggest issue is the logos, and I think it can be done well. I remember patching back in 2000, 2003, it was a complete pain because we had to make complete new abbreviations and logos for each retro team. But looking at your patch, it looks like you left the main abbreviation as is, locked/renamed the jersey files with teamgear.dbf, and for the various courts just edited "stadabbr4" in locations.dbf.

That is huge because stadiums change so frequently, more often than uniforms/logos; that will be very useful for modern rosters as well since now I can have separate courts for the 2007-08, 2008-09 Celtics, since they were slightly different - and next year's should be new as well.

In teams.dbf, there are two abbreviations listed: teamabr2 and teamabr4 (in addition to speechid.) Teamabr4 has 4 characters, and presumably corresponds to the jerseys. Teamabr2 has 2 characters and I believe points to at least some of the logos.

In \fe there is a 'logos.viv' which contains the bulk of the logos - logos~pda~xx_pda.big; logos~large~xx_jsel.big; logos~pda~xx_l.big, logos~medium~xx.big; logos~pause~xx.big; logos~port_lrg~xx.big; logos~port_lrg~xx_p.big; logos~roadtrip~xx.big; logos~score~xx.big; logos~teamlogos~xx.big; logos~wordmark~xx.big

Presumably an old boston logo could be labeled logos~medium~b1.big rather than bo, and so forth, and the corresponding change made in the retro teams.dbf under teamabr2. The downside is the sheer number of logos to be changed. But there aren't that many old logos out there, and it would REALLY add a lot to the patch.

Unfortunately there is also a logos.viv in \sgsm\common which contains xxxx.fsh - I don't know where these logos appear, but I doubt they could be changed independently from the uniform abbreviation unless there is another 4 letter abbreviation hiding somewhere.

*edit* - I got confused because Seattle is in NBA Live 2008 by default and the NLSC patch overwrites seattle instead of making a fresh OKC. I'm trying to figure this out - looks like you can just extract the .big files from logos.viv, but then the files within the .big also have to be renamed. I'm trying that, now I'll see whether it crashes.

Oh...looking in my /sgsm folder, I see that you have tried all this already - the whole batch of logos is put together in there, but for some reason it won't work?

Now I'm confused, because it looks like the logos in your patch mostly work ok?

I edited the teamabv2 for dallas and seattle in the teams.dbf to be d1 and ss to match the logos in /sgsm; some of the background logos aren't updated and are just the modern versions or blank; one of the names on the scoreboard is missing; and the jersey portraits are missing; but if all those missings things are filled in it looks like it should work fine?

The only thing that seems weird about the whole thing is that ingame jerseys follow the TEAMABR4, 4 letters, but the jersey portrait for selections follow the 2 letter abbreviation.

To me, getting those logos working is the main difference between the whole project being just kind of fun, and REALLY worth finishing and completing. The rest of the players can be filled in with create-a-players, and other years rosters would go faster since most players are already created.

Coaches need to be added too, but man, this can be really good.

hi mchakko
i must say "wow" to you because you try a lot of things ;)
but i must say i try this things also.
i also find out that you must make a new team wit new abbreviations...
than you must create
new ogos~pda~xx_pda.big;
logos~large~xx_jsel.big;
logos~pda~xx_l.big,
logos~medium~xx.big;
logos~pause~xx.big;
logos~port_lrg~xx.big;
logos~port_lrg~xx_p.big;
logos~roadtrip~xx.big;
logos~score~xx.big;
logos~teamlogos~xx.big;
logos~wordmark~xx.big
but this really not work
i`m an amateur in creating new logogs,teams
it`cost me a lot of time to put this jersey,cyperfaces,portraits in this save game
I try try try a lot of things - i remember the joy, when my first portrait, which i created with photoshop,
was involved with the help of DB Commander ;)
i like to tinker till it`s work.
At the moment i work at the update from the 70`s roster an a complet new 60`s roster and ,hey there are hundreads of new players and of course new logogs for example of the ABA Teams :)
http://www.sportslogos.net/team.php?id=263
so if you really knew how i can put new logos in to a save game and its works -> can you make some pictures or a little video with CamStudio, so i can do that on my own?

another plan is that i make the Rosters and the portraits and after this you change the logos?

p.s sorry for my english!!!!!

Honestly I haven't experimented with the stuff for a while - how did you get the logos you already have in there? Because they look good. Or did I download them from a different patch???

Unforunately I don't really have time to work on it right now, not sure how to use camstudio, but I would think it would be pretty straightforward if you're already doing all those cyberfaces.

My main expertise in this type of thing is knowledge of the old time lineups and players, actually - I don't know that I can really do the busywork of plugging in a whole bunch of logos; I may try to play with it a little in the future though.

YES!
the new upgrade is ready!!

i refreshed the Links for the sgsm&Savegame Folders at the first Page of this Post
now - all teams have there own....
- logos
- courts
- trainer
- jerseys

...of the special years

but there is a little "problem"
after i include the new logos (by making new team abbreviation):
the previews of the jerseys befor you start to play games are missing, BUT when you play everything is O.K.
so only the previevs of the jerseys ,where i change the logo, is missing.
i know i can change it when i edit the jersey files - but there are 100 lines each jersey
so there is so much work - so i´m very very very thankfull if someone can fix this "problem"!!!!!!

p.s the real update of the 70 roster coming soon

Your Roster Legend 02-04 is 2003-04 team composition because it is Lakers rosters, but Blazers is 2002-03 team composition. But not can roster 2002-03, 2003-04.
I can not play the season R.wallace is because the two teams Pistons 2003-04, Blazers 2002-03.
Thanks

Dear Pasxon,

If you are going to make ABA uniforms, there is site that is devoted to the ABA http://www.remembertheaba.com/. There is a great resource of information if you want to make jerseys, logos, etc. That would be great if you could make ABA jerseys.

Thanks Magic for that links, but i know this site,
my question was explicit: are there complete jerseys from someone - so i can only include this jerseys in the save-files,
because there are a lot of work to create all the rosters..
