Well, that article is currently reporting that Kidd is returning to the Mavericks having agreed in principle to a three year deal worth at least $25 million, so I'm guessing he'll stay in Dallas.

I'm surprised the Mavericks would tie up a little over $8 mil per year in him but I don't think it's too bad an idea for them to keep him given how thin they'd be at point guard without him. Barea's probably not ready to be the fulltime starter at point guard either. From a personnel standpoint, I think the Knicks could've used him (especially if they're trying to lure LeBron, given the esteem he's shown for Kidd in the past) but not for that kind of money as they'll need as much cap space as they can to land a high profile free agent next year and then surround him with some other talented players, as they won't have many players under contract come the 2010 offseason (as it stands today at any rate).

Yeah, unfortunately( to me) he signs 95 % with Mavs ,but it would be cool to see Kidd in Knicks jersey. He's ex wife(she's hot :) ) and kids live in New York,i thought that he would prefer New York because of that.

I never understood Walsh's pursuit of Kidd. The dude is 37 years old. I thought the plan was to go with youth and get under the cap.

He can still play though, and for the right money he'd be a decent option for another two or three years. That's not to say that Kidd would've been the best move that the Knicks could've made but if they're going to land one of the top free agents they're going to have to demonstrate that they're moving in the right direction. The big names are going to get fat contracts no matter what, so it comes down to another team offering a better situation than their current club.
