Well hopefully Thomas will make Chaney start playing the rookies...having all 3 rookies on injuried reserve is kind of stupid and 1 of them was a top 10 pick who won't get a chance to shine since he ain't getting a chance to play..I really want to see Lampe play, he can easily be a fan favorite because as you saw on draft night, all the Knicks fans were chanting "we want lampe!"

Man I'm not a knicks fan but I was so angry when that happened, this is your future, there is no way you can think this current team is going to win the championship this year, at least develop the youngs, I don't know how Lampe even dropped so low??

Sweetney needs to lose some weight, he's like Elton Brand without the skill, i don't know if he's gonna be a blocking presence or if he has quick hands either

If you don't want to play them all at least have on in the active roster and rotate between them through the season geez.

Layden's tenure wasn't a complete disaster, but he created some problems that Isiah will need to address, namely the logjam of big men, most of whom are undersized for their position.

Thomas isn't the most successful GM we've ever seen, but with a team that's already hovering around the low playoff seeds but still a little out of reach, he might fare a little better. Rather than building an expansion team from scratch, he'll be making improvements, fixing mistakes and moving the team in the right direction. To me, the latter seems like an easier task; he has more talent to work with.

But he has a really bad cap situation in New York. But I think Thomas can be succesfull, he does have a good eye for talent in the draft.

imo- zeke's reign as gm being a successful one largely depends on the patience of the nyk fans and which direction he takes the franchise: he can scratch everything and rebuild or continue to be a competitive, lower seed playoff contender.

i'm not exactly sure how patient nyk fans are, but to me- an outsider, i would elect to go the rebuilding route... barring thomas is able to make some miracle trades to get rid of some contracts and be a major player to get that adulterer currently playing for LA

The Knicks don't have any chance on Kobe. & NY fans are the most demanding of all the basketball fans, also have no patience for anyone.

if nyk fans are impatient as you say, good luck then. i don't see any quick fixes that can change the current competitive level the team is at.

The fact of being demanding/impatient doesn't make them blind. NY fans understand the position they are & the most we expect from Thomas is to get the right moves, whether it affects the basketball team scheme or not.

The Knicks are a good team like that, not a championship team but at least a playoff (now with McDyess healthy). They have some good prospects, one of the 3 best pure shooters from the whole league on Allan, great role players coming from the bench that can answer at the right time & an average starting 5. They just need a great coach to show them the right direction to follow. Now with a new manager (which was something I was complaining as needed), a new coach to make a brand new start is supposed to be the right choice.

I'd easily go for Fratello if he wants to coach.

At least he knows how it is, this guys is really shaking up the roster. I was wondering when Vranes would finally leave. He gets rid of Weatherspoon, challenges Lampe to hit the gym and work on his game and he wants to see some Sweetney.

It's time the Knicks started to get somewhere and judging by that article, this guy ain't no joke.

Thomas said he disagrees with Layden's philosophy that the team's fate rests on McDyess.
"I wouldn't say we live and die with his health," Thomas said. "I always believed you have to stand on your own. When one guy falls, everybody's got to be able to circle the wagons."

you damn right. The Knicks aren't Dallas or Detriot who might have such freedom to make a top 10 draft pick stay on IR. Theres a reason Knicks had a top 10 pick, they sucked badly last year.

Second-round pick, 7-5 Slavko Vranes was released on Christmas Eve and draft steal Lampe, on the injured list, could be trade bait now. Lampe was projected to go in the lottery but fell to 30.

I really wanted to see Slavko Vranes play, he is so big, he might turn out to be a decent back up center. Oh well, time to move on.

"I spoke to Lampe, I told him, we'll see," Thomas said. "He's a guy who has to work his tail off to get to where I think he needs to be. I need to see a greater work ethic from him.

"He's a guy who should live in a gym for a long time. He's got to get better. We don't have a lot of time to wait for him to get better. This ain't charity. It's a business. We all get paid a lot of money to do what we needed to do. If we can't do it, we have to find somebody else."

lol, seems Thomas knows what business is. I see the Knicks in the playoffs this year or if not, next year they will be in for sure.
