I'd agree to a certain extent, simply having a good work ethic alone is not enough. However, we've also seen very talented players have their careers derailed or their draft stock slip by their lousy work ethic and/or attitude, so I'd say it does have an impact on a player's chances of making it in the NBA. The talent definitely has to be there though.

For every Latrell Sprewell, there's a Blake Griffin -- there's a lot of college players and international players who put TREMENDOUS effort into coming into the NBA but eventually they can't get it done. And, needless to say, talent/success on another level doesn't say much about eventual NBA success. Just ask Sean Marks and Yi Jianlian -- they were the basketball-face-of-a-nation guys once too.

Blake doesn't put all that effort to come to NBA. He does it to improve. He's having extremely intense and difficult practices everyday. You think he'll stop doing that once he gets to NBA? I don't think so. Besides, you can't put him in one category with Marks and Yi.

Well, yeah. The best of the best in the NBA are the ones that have the talent to succeed in the league and the work ethic/drive to use their talents and reach their full potential. Simply having a great work ethic isn't enough, but sometimes having a lot of talent isn't enough either.
