Even though i don't like the lakers, congrats to them it's well-deserved,i think i'm starting to like the lakers now  ,this championship win wasn't exciting, maybe because they're on the road not like last year boston's celebration rules,Kobe should've poured Phil with gatorade

Kind of, but I don't think it was intentional; I'd certainly hope not. More likely he was just caught up in the moment and you can't blame him for that.

The atmosphere doesn't have the "greatness" in it. It's mainly because they won on the road, but Kobe should have done what Pierce did. (Y)

I kind of thought so too, a little awkward...aww who gives a shit LAKERS ARE CHAMPS AGAIN!!!!!! Need to get my 08-09 championship shirt and wear it with pride. Good job to the Magic, they have a good future ahead of them but this wasn't their year.

Having said that, the reaction they got during the presentation was pretty good. Obviously there were a fair few Lakers fans in the arena but they got a pretty good ovation for a championship team clinching on the road.

boo lakers

+1
Nothing could have been more obvious than this outcome since even before the beginning of the playoffs. Those fuckers were just lucky with the zillion injuries that plagued some of the major contenders. Not sure it would have been the same story with KG, Manu, Amare, Yao, etc.

I had mixed feelings towards the 2009 playoffs. There were a few really fun series (Houston/Lakers and Denver/Lakers were both good and Orlando/Cleveland in the east) but overall the whole thing left me kind of flat, especially the finals. Also, what kind of championship celebration was that anyways? I wish they would have flown KG in to scream and shout a little after Kobe's polite MVP acceptance speech. I just posted in an NBA Live 2006 thread about figuring out which file contains the championship celebration because lately mine has been skipping it for some reason, but maybe I shouldn't fix it -- it seems to be more realistic these days! There was just no iconic moment. No KG screaming and acting crazy, No MJ crying on the floor while clutching the ball, no great speech by Rudy T... when did it go out of style to celebrate a championship win? There were quite a few Lakers fans at Orlando too -- you could hear them cheering and ready to explode, but the Lakers weren't giving them anything to get excited about.

I am kind of an odd duck anyways when it comes to the NBA playoffs. I'm from Portland, OR, but my favorite championship run was probably the 1995 Houston Rockets run (best comebacks ever). My favorite NBA Finals was by far the 1993 NBA Finals. The last really great one for me was the Pistons upset of the Lakers in 2004. Call me crazy, but I really enjoyed the 2005 Pistons/Spurs series as well. I guess I just love the big underdog comeback or two big heavyweight, evenly matches teams battling it out. Orlando just wasn't competitive enough to make me believe it, similar to the Lakers last year against Boston.

Yeah, I was very impressed with the cheers from the Orlando crowd during the presentations/postgame. That was pretty nice.

Meanwhile, Andrew Bynum now has an inflated view of his self-worth.

"We won the championship because I was playing, unlike last year!"

Boston-Chicago? Best first round series since Dallas-Golden State?

Haha, just watched the video on NBA.com of the Lakers' trophy presentation... Adam Morrison is standing in the back with a frown, right behind the team janitor.

Watching the replay, the commissioner mentioned "Boston Celtics" as he introduce Russell. Perhaps being a Laker, he got that instinctive tendency on hating whoever is on that team insight upon hearing it. Stern almost forgot to announce the Final's MVP

*Alright, he didn't snub him at all. As Russell hand it to him, he gave a smiling nod to the geezer.

Even David Stern snubbed Bill Russell. When he announced the trophy would be named in his honor, Russell went for a handshake and Stern just turned away. I think Russell was assuming something more formal, not realizing he's just supposed to stand there.

OOPS! Yeah, Boston / Chicago was pretty damn sweet too! :p I wish Chicago would have pulled off the upset because I like their team a lot, but it was a great series s well.

Well... All the Kobe fan boys will soon flood out of the gate screaming "I TOLD YOU SO" now that Kobe has actually "won" a championship without the help of Shaq.

Talk about the Houston Rockets again. I dare you. I double dare you. Your Kobe Bryant and your Los Angeles Lakers took 7 games to beat the "bitch". Your Kobe Bryant and your Los Angeles Lakers got beaten by the "bitch" three times too. Go on, I'm ready for your "LA and Kobe is the best because we've just won a championship" crap. That wasn't even necessary.
