Site Supporter option

Site Supporter option

Apologies if this has been brought up in a thread elsewhere. My searching skills are not what they used to be.

Another forum I frequent has a system in place for site donations. You basically click the securely linked button and log into paypal, and make your donation. You then get a 'Site Supporter' badge that goes under your avatar, like the 'team member' badges here. You also get a boost to your rep bar, but of course the rep bar isn't used here, and I know that one has been discussed before (in fact, after posting the past few months on the forum with the rep system, it's hard to go without it- but that's a different topic :P).

I was just thinking this might be a good addition to the NLSC, perhaps to help with hosting costs, cutting back on the pop-up ads and such; not to mention chipping in any small bit as a thank you to those who run the site. Over at the other site I was talking about (it happens to be for a miniatures board game), they also use part of the donations to fund community contests and rewards. That might be a bit tougher to implement here, but hey. I know that I personally would be happy to help out, but can also understand how this might be viewed negatively. Just an idea, anyway.

Would anyone of you really trust Andrew with your money? Be honest.

I've toyed with the idea of putting a link to my paypal account on the main site. Came to the conclusion that it was probably somehow a crime.

It's something we've considered before and I certainly appreciate the sentiment, but ads are part of our hosting agreement and with them we're definitely not out of pocket as far as hosting is concerned. :)

Or a courtside tickets + two way plane tickets to a Chicago home game next season.

Just kidding Andrew, if we really implement this system then we'll definitely trust you with our money. You've always give the site 110%. There is absolutely no reason why we wouldn't trust you after all you've done. It's pretty obvious. :D

So Andrew is going to raise enough to build a time machine so he can go back to the 1990s?
