Another forum I frequent has a system in place for site donations. You basically click the securely linked button and log into paypal, and make your donation. You then get a 'Site Supporter' badge that goes under your avatar, like the 'team member' badges here. You also get a boost to your rep bar, but of course the rep bar isn't used here, and I know that one has been discussed before (in fact, after posting the past few months on the forum with the rep system, it's hard to go without it- but that's a different topic
).I was just thinking this might be a good addition to the NLSC, perhaps to help with hosting costs, cutting back on the pop-up ads and such; not to mention chipping in any small bit as a thank you to those who run the site. Over at the other site I was talking about (it happens to be for a miniatures board game), they also use part of the donations to fund community contests and rewards. That might be a bit tougher to implement here, but hey. I know that I personally would be happy to help out, but can also understand how this might be viewed negatively. Just an idea, anyway.
