Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

It's coming up, there's a change of plan though, now that my video card is on rehab I have time to do the tutorial. I'm starting up with a sample.

Looking forward to that tutorial.
Can't wait to make a vector image of a Japanese girl with a halftone pattern background.

Yeah...Thanks...Sir...
I should count much a lot from you & form it...

Narcius, while waiting for Lean's tutorial, you could read other ones. just search in google and you'll surely find useful tutorials. i do vector logos and only use the pen tool. and that's basically what Lean also use. try the pen tool tutorial he posted.

Ok...
Thanks for the good advice...

Tutorial is currently on the works, with this as the sample:

Yay! Great choice of sample Lean, that's exactly what all of us wants to be able to do.

Thank you very much for granting us this rather big request.
Sat May 30, 2009 5:15 pm
wow.

Here you go, the first SHIT:

Only made out of Word. So, word.

woah. very very nice tutorial. i got tired just thinking how to have same finished face shadings as you have done. but, it really was helpful. thanks. oh boy, i wanna see the reaction of narcius after reading that.
Sat May 30, 2009 10:29 pm
Oh geez, thanks man. But honestly, I just discovered how to do it this past month. One year after I made my first full-color vector that is.... far from what I want it to look like:

See what I mean? This photo has no blending between layers. That's why I switched to the two-toned vector art.
About the tutorial I was actually planning to show each shade by layer. But it would take forever I guess.

the tutorial was fine. everything that a reader needs is in there. except ofcourse, the patience and pen-tool mastery. your latest one is indeed much better than your first.

But I hate the Lakers, Kobe, and Pacquiao, so that's a minus.
Sun May 31, 2009 2:49 am
Just finish reading the tutorial. It's awesome Lean.

Seriously, thank you very much on behalf of everyone here who'll benefit from your tutorial that you worked so hard on. Your talent is absolutely stunning and I cant imagine how much time you spent on each piece of vector art. I guess it's all about patience.
Sun May 31, 2009 1:38 pm
Thanks, Modifly, it's also all about hating the Lakers and Pacquiao.
More SHIT to come I guess.
Sun May 31, 2009 3:17 pm
Awww, Lean is growing up and likes the ladies.
Lean wrote:Thanks, Modifly, it's also all about hating the Lakers and Pacquiao.
True that.
A Scanner Darkly. Nice.
Sun May 31, 2009 6:44 pm
didn't go anywhere near yours but hey, i've made one.

i just have a question. how do you do these line? the light ones.

sorry for the noobness man.
Sun May 31, 2009 7:29 pm
Nice job jenz. That's way too good for a first try.

Now that part I really didn't explain, it's a Pen Tool trick were you draw lines using it. Select the Brush Tool and set the diameter to 3, or smaller. Get your Pen Tool, select the Paths option then trace the lines, press ESC, right-click and select "Stroke..." then on the drop-down menu choose "Brush" and hit OK. It should work.

Well honestly I'm thinking of making a Cameron Philips (Summer Glau's Terminator character) vector art wallpaper. Yeah, another girl.
Sun May 31, 2009 8:24 pm
ok. got it.

now i recall that i use to do that. i just forgot about it.
Sun May 31, 2009 8:44 pm
How many hours did it take you to make the head?
Sun May 31, 2009 8:50 pm
i don't really remember. but it would be a maximum of 2 hours. i was waiting for a download to finish, so i know it wasn't more than 2 hours. i was just trying your posterize trick and when i saw the outcome, i tried to trace some details but not thinking i'll finish the whole head. but, i enjoyed it and done it anyway. maybe because my model is cute.
Sun May 31, 2009 9:03 pm
Oh you do like the ladies too. shadowgrin will be very happy to hear that.

The Vector Art Tutorial looks hard but I think if you still continue or willing to done this skill...
Hmmm...It's worth while very useful in some Photo Editing...

Wow, that's very good jenz.

Mine's not going anywhere.

Maybe it's because I used myself as a model, not a lady.

Anyway, I'll keep trying and hopefully it'll be as good as that.

For shame.

And better steal the source photo, like Lean did.
Just to make sure Lean has some company in hell.
