LeBron James named MVP

Postby Andrew on Tue May 05, 2009 1:04 am

Article @ Yahoo! NBA

A person with knowledge of the choice tells The Associated Press that Cleveland’s LeBron James has won the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award.

James, who led Cleveland to a team record 66 regular-season wins and the top overall seed in the playoffs, will receive the award Monday afternoon at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, his alma mater, says the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official announcement has not been made.

I think most of us figured as much, though as always it'll be interesting to see how close the voting was.

He's a well deserving candidate for the award, but I'd like to see Wade win it too since his individual performance this year has been off the hook.

Receiving it in his high school gym makes LeBron James much more corny.
Nike can now release the new Zoom Lebron VI MVP-SVSM colorway. Its 345th colorway.

Lebron deserved it, even though I'd have voted for Wade. :-)

Lebron sure is rather more valuable player to the team than anyone else to theirs, even at this stage of season.

I love how they gave him a Kia.

Only one thing can top this, a championship.

I guess this was a no doubter, this year. But how many more would he win? If he stays healthy, I say 5.

An MVP vote some expected to be close was another slam dunk by James. He received 109 of a possible 121 first-place votes to easily outdistance Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. James totaled 1,172 points in balloting by media members in the U.S. and Canada.

Bryant, last year’s winner, got two first-place votes and finished with 698 points. Miami guard Dwyane Wade was third with 680 points and was named first on seven ballots. Orlando center Dwight Howard (328) was fourth followed by New Orleans guard Chris Paul (192).

Tony Parker's nowhere to be found, why? hehe, doesn't matter anyway. At any rate, congratulations LBJ.

If there's an MVP award for gracefulness, flair and finesse or for number of style of dunks, you're probably last in votings.

Well deserved win here. He had the statistics (28, 7, 7) and the team success (team record was best in the league). The latter was what was really missing last two seasons so Lebron winning it was not a big surprised. Congratulations to him. It's only the first of many awards and I do hate to admit that. (Y)

Presumably they haven't discontinued the MIP award. At least, you'd think there'd be more buzz about it if they did.

Lebron should get MVP title year ago too. He was the best, he is the best and he can lead Cavs to win in this season.

Why? He had more points, rebrounds, assists, blocks etc.
He won many games for Cavs by himself. Kobe is great player but always have another great player like Shaq or Pau Gasol.

LeBron had a case last year but much like Wade this year and Kobe a few seasons back, his team simply didn't do well enough according to the standards the MVP voting traditionally follows.

It's all about Chris Paul and Kobe back then and following them is KG. Have you forgotten all of these things?

Kobe won just because his team was doing better, but I still believe Lebron was a better player last year. I had a feeling the media just gave it to him in that year, even though Kobe wasn't having the best year in his career, but his team was the best, heavty thanks to great supports. Best player on the best team. I guess that's how it goes in MVP ballots now days.

Kobe was a pathetic choice for MVP last year, especially when you consider that the Lakers wouldn't have even come close to that record had they not acquired Gasol.
