The offensive rebounds problem - any solution so far?

Postby babouisi on Thu Dec 11, 2003 5:13 am

Simply I want to know if someone has fixed the too few off rebound problem.

I tried sliders to 100, edited ratings raising off reb and lowering def reb, but no way.

When I play I always try to go for the off reb, but my whole team can only get 3-4 per game, sometimes 5-6 and my absolut best was 9.

That's all, hope someone or maybe EA will fix this issue.

Ihave no problem getting offensive rebounds for myself....I lead the league with about 16 a game in my season(16 games on allstar).

My sliders are set both CPU and USER 0 DREB to 100 OREB

The problem I still have is the CPU not getting enouhg offensive rebounds. The most I gave up was 10....I would say my average CPU OREB is like 4 though.

I don't think there is anything we can do....The offensive players do not attack the glass for the computer....even the ball hits the ground no one moves but defensive players to get the rebound.

Hopefully next year

2013 is the year?
Thanks to Vl@d, Leftos and all the other patchers for their hard work.

:idea: Try this guys, usually helps me and the CPU to avg btwn 10 - 14 Orebs a game...

gameplay set up:
CPU/USER: OREB's = 100/ DREB's = 0

in game menu:
USER/CPU: Box Out = Off
USER/CPU: Crash boards = On

now the tedious part...
Go thru each teams roster to edit OREB values based on this formula:

Starters:
Centers = 95 - 100
PForwards = 90 - 98
SForwards = 85 - 95
SGuards = 82 - 92
PGuards = 75 - 85

Bench:
Centers = 85 - 95
PForwards = 80 - 90
SForwards = 75 - 85
SGuards = 65 - 75
PGuards = 50 - 60

You may also want to lower DREBS with a similar scale as well to keep your OVRL team ratings roughly the same.

Again, it's a bit of work but If you are a stats whore (like me :wink:) you'll be a lot happier with the results.

In addition, crashing the boards means lots of fastbreaks :?

I also experience that no one is getting the BALL in the floor automatically whichever is near it...not like the 2003 version.... :roll:

As always, practice is the key. When you've released your shot, switch to the player who is nearest to the basket and try to maneuver him as close to the rim as you can. Sometimes, you have to run around the defenders, cause they don't want you to get the offensive board and will try to block you out of the zone, which is completely ok with me. :) Just practice, and you'll get a sh**load of boards soon.

I have my rebounds setting on default for all-star level and i get my share of offensive rebounds. In 7 minutes my Shaq average 2.5 offensive rebounds and 8.8 defensive rebounds and Karl Malone average 1.8OR and 5.6DR. It's all about timing and good positioning. :D

I have a problem with my point guards getting way too many offensive rebounds. It is okay with big men, but little guys can just run around and grab it before anyone else has a chance.

The problem is the AI for the players. They dont attack the ball on offense for rebounds, even B. Wallace does not go for ball. Even if it hits the floor they sit there on there ass until a defensive guy gets it.

This is fixable with a patch but it wont happen EA wont release more then 1-2 more patches for this game.

In 6 minute quarters I get about 7 offensive rebounds to 25-30 defensive rebounds if I remember correctly (I haven't been able to play in a while :( f*ing school)
