Online play questions

Postby busta_cap on Thu Dec 11, 2003 6:01 am

I just signed up for EASO and activated my account last night. I played three games and ended up 1/2 (which is not bad for an online rookie, I guess).

I have a question or two, though:

a) one of the opponents popped up a "console comment" or something like that to compliment a Steve Francis dunk. How does one make these comments, and are there other console commands available?

b) My players were certainly missing some shots that they wouldn't normally miss (i.e. Steve Francis missed numerous layups, Eric Piatkowski missed 3 wide open threes, etc.). My opponent's players, on the other hand (especially Sprewell) had very few misses that my defense didn't force. How are the player attribute ratings handled through online play? Is there some central EA roster database that contains the ratings for each player? Or do the pc-installed copies of the game use the "from the factory" ratings for each player? Is there a way to edit players for online play to help cut down on these gaffes?

c) This one is more an oddity than a question: I was playing this guy and he popped in a console comment saying that he had to go, but thanks for the game. I was given the option of continuing against the computer, but the computer kept playing the style that the human opponent had played. In other words, it played just like him, not the compu-controlled Timberwolves I had come to expect. Is it possible that the computer analyzed the human's playing style and adapted it's standard playstyle to match his when he quit? Is there some other explanation?

If anyone knows the answers, please let me know. Also, is there a FAQ (official or not) about NBA Live 2004 online play?

Thanx!

To chat in online play use the ` tilda key. It is the key before your number 1 key and its right below escape. Hit that tilda key and you can chat.

Now online game uses the roster of the person hosting the game..
The online game is a little different from playing pc... It is easier for a player to interfere with your shots.. You need to lose a few more games to get used to it.
Some players do cheat though.. Since they are hosting they might edit the other teams to make them suck and up the ratings of their own team to give themselves an advantage. (pieress12 is an example of this..Dont every play this player. He uses chicago bulls and every other team sucks when hosting. If you play him, pick chicago bull and I promise you he will quit the game and not play with you).
Not everyone is a cheat though. . ( I once played a guy who did not miss a shot first quarter with memphis and i was sacrament, but he started missing after first quarter. so its not always cheating.)
Read my guide for more information..The post should be on the main page.

If someone quits on you, Dont play the computer.. It is bugged and the computer my count it against you. (I hate quitters. It ruins the game. I have had many people quit on me with 5 secs to go. Ea needs to make quitters automatically lose the game, but Ea never listensIf anyone knows the answers, please let me know. Also, is there a FAQ

In Quake3 and other games, there are settings that can be altered using the console (brought up when pressing the tilde key); does NBA Live 2K4 have any other console commands that you know of other than Chat? Or when you press the tilde key, do you simply type your message and hit Enter to send it to your opponent?
