PC players that use keyboard?

Sun Dec 07, 2003 7:23 am

Are there any gamers that use the keyboard to play NBA Live 2004?

If there are... which keys do you find for the best play?..ie turbo key, etc.

I use keyboard :lol:
this is my setting:

E: Turbo
S: Jump shot
A: Dunk/Lay-up
X: Pass
C: Direct pass
Left shift: Playcalling
Z: Off the Ball
R: Alley Up

I've been a keyboard-using NBA Live series player since '98. It's crappy for EA Sports to only limit one keyboard user for the game since '03.

Here's my keyboard settings:

(using the number keys on the right side of the keyboard)

1: Turbo
8: Jump shot
9: Dunk/Lay-up
7: Pass
4: Direct pass
0: Playcalling
2: Alley Up

I couldnt think of anything and since I play a lot of NHL i just used the NHL keys.

c to pass, switch player
space to shoot, charge
x to pro-hop/power move, rebound/block
v to dunk, steal
shift to turbo (comes from the FPS games...)
d to playcall
ctrl to direct pass, direct switch (also influenced by FPS games...)

arrow keys to move.

it's a bit harsh for EA to limit only one crossover animation for the crossover button... :x holding it down a bit longer results to doing a spinmove.they should still have separated these two....from my opinion.....the only way you can effectively isolate a defender is in the triple threat position..... :x

[ - alley-oop
]- dunk/steal
\ - back down
enter - jump
ctrl - pass
space - turbo
shift - shoot
/ - crossover
'' - playcalling

I also use keyboard and with this every six months i change one :(

well, for NBA live since '97...it's been a bit of annoying changing the configs from one version to another....for now the shoot and layup/dunk is separated...too messy.... :evil:

Fri Dec 12, 2003 9:31 am

It's all just a matter of what you get used to. Here's mine:

G - Alley Oop
H - Direct pass
N - Playcalling
X - Turbo
Z - Pro-Hop
C - Pass
SPACE - Shoot
V - Dunk/Layup
L-SHIFT - Back Down
B - Crossover
F - Off-Ball Switch

and my quick plays are just keys 1,2,3,4.

So basically my left hand is aligned on z,x,c,v with my thumb on the space bar; and all the other buttons are pretty easily accessable.

Fri Dec 12, 2003 11:20 am

does anybody here know how to raise the defenders hands while a player takes a shot......cause i always do this in live 2003(it's the take charge button) what button is it in 2004.....or is it only availabe in freestlye....just asking :lol:

Fri Dec 12, 2003 6:02 pm

I think it only works with a dual analogue controller. But if you're in/near the post, players will automatically put their hands up.

Sun Dec 14, 2003 5:51 pm

A - pass / switch
NUMPAD 0 - direct pass / direct switch
SPACE - turbo
E - shoot
D - dunk / steal
F - pro-hop / rebound
R - back down
W - crossover / spin
Z - timeout
V - alleyoop

Fri Dec 26, 2003 7:54 am

i really hate how ea sports limits the keyboard controls for the game. like i cannot just choose which keys i want to assign to defense and offense. it is you have choose a key and it coresponds automatically to 2 different things. i hate that crap.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FAKE BUTTON IN THE GAME?

Fri Dec 26, 2003 2:51 pm

My Settings

Arrow Keys = Movement
Space Bard = Shoot
L. Control = Turbo
L. Alt = Pass
Z = Pro-Hop
X = Cross-Over
C = Dunk/Layup
V = Alley-Oop
B = Off-Ball

1/2/3/4 = Play Calls
T = Timeout

Mon Dec 29, 2003 10:04 am

anyone know how to do the fake step? when you choose your favorite team in my nba live, it shows a player, lets say paul pierce and he does fake step and whatnot and also a dribble backwards step like in nba live 2003, anyone figure this out yet?
